A 28-team bracket has been whittled down to the final two... and my alma mater, TAMU-C, has made it to the Division II National Championship!

I'm sure there's not much interest here in D-II football, but this figures to be a very good game.

Texas A&M-Commerce Lions (13-1) #5 seed



Texas A&M-Commerce is led by Luis Perez - winner of the Harlon Hill (D-II's Heisman)... He's the best QB in D-II and probably the best college QB in the state of Texas, at all levels (not saying much this year.) His success is all the more intriguing when you take into account that he had never played QB in high school. He finished the year with 4,678 passing yards and 44 touchdowns.

The Lions have had an impressive run through the D-II playoffs, including a win on the road against #1 seed Minnesota State.

West Florida Argonauts (11-3) #6 seed



The Argonauts are the Cinderella story of D-II football. Two years ago they didn't even have a program. Now here they are in their second season playing for a national championship. They're 7.5 point underdogs, but this is a team who has been taking down the favorites left and right this year.

Kick-off on ESPN 2 at 6pm EST.

Such a turnaround from when I was going to school there. They were pretty much a laughing stock 5-6 years ago.

I just saw my dad behind the guy who had the sign that read, "All I want for Xmas is a Lions championship." I shoulda went with him. Damn holiday obligations.
