PHB pretty much crushing the draft imo.

conan and gervais probably have much more sophisticated political opinions than maher, they just refrain from displaying them on camera.

Two of our owed picks:

Malcolm Gladwell: charismatic, a great conversationalist, interesting opinions on a range of topics. Apparently a fairly magnetic personality. Criticized for his writing being pseudoscientific, which shouldn't be a huge deal at a dinner party, but: if it is, he can get called out by
Nate Silver: knowledgeable about sports and politics, right? Wide range of experiences, patron saint of empiricists, should have good stories from his dealings with NYT, ESPN, and the lol political media. Truly impressive life resume, essentially made his own reputation through smarts and hard work in two separate arenas.

He cut his teeth debating with SEers.

Round 9, Pick 117:

Quote:
You cannot look up at the night sky on the Planet Earth and not wonder what it's like to be up there amongst the stars. And I always look up at the moon and see it as the single most romantic place within the cosmos.
Quote:
It's always a combination of physics and poetry that I find inspiring. It's hard to wrap your head around things like the Hubble scope.
Quote:
From now on we live in a world where man has walked on the Moon. It's not a miracle; we just decided to go.
Quote:
If they could offer up a way to go to the moon that wouldn't kill you, I'd sign up.

It's been a while and nobody is picking. I'm gonna go ahead and take my 9th rounder.

Andre the Giant

Affable, lovable, huge. Bigtime drinker. And translation is a non-issue so we'll be able to understand everything he says in his heavy Fronche accent.

Also, Abe Lincoln is on the trading block. Looking for a living person in trade.

Team:
Norm MacDonald
Jack Nicholson
Richard Pryor
Chris Farley
Abraham Lincoln
Mike Tyson
Jimmy Page
Seth MacFarlane

I'll pick Adam Carolla as my dark horse.

He's not that famous, but the only way you get to be the host of the most popular podcast on all the internets is by having a v sharp tongue and wit. He's excellent at making jokes on the fly, his biggest flaw as a conversationalist is he's too long winded. He often gets criticized for perceived racial insensitivity and sexism, but for the most part it's people taking things out of context to get blog hits.

I'll post my final pick soon, feel free to proceed.

Roster:
Bill Clinton
Ricky Gervais
Conan O'Brien
Richard Dawkins
Alec Baldwin
Adam Carolla
---
Thomas Jefferson
Franklin D. Roosevelt
Orson Welles

I'll take Elon Musk with my final selection. The comedians I have drafted earlier should provide for some hilarious reactions to his innovations and futuristic ideas.

Quote:
Elon Musk is an American business magnate, investor and inventor. He is the founder and CEO of SpaceX.[5] After studying commerce at the Queen's School of Business for two years, Musk obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business[2] and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics from the University of Pennsylvania.[2] He founded SpaceX, Tesla Motors and co-founded PayPal.[6][7]
Full write up for my 3 parties to come.

if Manson knifes the drafter and carrot top to death, it cannot count as a 'interesting and fun-filled' dinner imo
The Dinner Party Draft Quote

O/U how long it takes Manson to try to kill Carrot Top?
The Dinner Party Draft Quote
09-30-2013 , 09:33 PM
I think there's a better chance of Putin killing Carrot Top, actually.

And for my final pick, I select:

My father

Sadly, he'll be at the Sunday night table

I'll take Dana White

Friday: Joe Rogan, Joey Diaz, Dana White
Saturday: Neil Degrasse Tyson, Cara Santa Maria, Jason Silva
Sunday: Jesus Christ, 2Pac Shakur, Christopher Hitchens, Bill Hicks

Friday night will be steaks/booze night out with the guys, Saturday will be a good time to sober up- smoke a bunch of weed and enjoy some science/philosophy, and on Sunday I'll literally get to meet Jesus....sounds like a pretty fun weekend imo.
