Two writeups I owe:

Carlos Rogers - CD Auburn

Rogers was a 4 year starter at Auburn and was one of the best defenders in the SEC over that time. Really strong physical athlete who was great in man coverage. Always was matched up on the other team's best WR.

Quote:
He started 44 games over four years, and finished his career with 182 tackles (134 individual), seven interceptions, and two fumble recoveries. He holds Auburn’s career record with forty pass deflections,[4] which ranks second in SEC history.
In 2004 he won the Thorpe award as best DB in CFB. Was drafted 9th in the 2005 NFL draft.

USC 2005 Offensive Line

LT - Sam Baker - All American 2005
LG - Fred Matua - All American 2005
C- Ryan Khalil - SI All American 2005
RG - Deuce Latui - All American 2005, selected 41st overall in 2006 Draft
RT - Winston Justice - Considered one of the best tackles in USC history

TEAM:
Matt Leinart - QB
Reggie Bush - RB
USC 2005 O-Line
Roy Williams - WR
Peter Warrick - WR

David Pollack - DE
Gerard Warren - DT
Jonathan Vilma - LB
Roy Williams - S
Carlos Rogers - CB

There are players that I am very surprised have not gone yet.

Also, the Drew Brees pick as well as multiple, multiple undrafteds proves the 'late round QB' theory. The QBs are so good that I would have just tried to maximize the talent around them.

Only what 13 teams. So many elite qbs and only a few elite DTs, WRs, CBs, DEs, LBers, etc. There are a decent amount of elite RBs. QBs have the most elite talent by far.

Drew Brees is good and all, but he is significantly worse than the elite QBs in this league.

i think this is the guy someone was referring to when talking about Reggie Bush going first round and this guy somehow still being available...

Spoiler:

WR/RB Percy Harvin, Florida

hopefully steelers doesn't mind me making this pick i haven't been able to get ahold of him today and don't want us to get skipped anymore.

Harvin should be good for about 3 touches in this before he gets carted off.

I think this is true btw. There are better QBs available atm than brees who are elite though.

And the difference between some of these elite QBs and the mega-elite QBs is not that large in this league.

I've thought about Harvin for our last ~4 picks. His injury concerns hurt his value a bit but I think he's good value here. He was a threat to take the ball to the house every time he touched it. I think you want him in the slot though, he played way more WR than RB at Florida and he would become an even bigger injury concern if he's taking hits at RB in this league

harvin was a true sicko and one of my favorite players in CFB the last few years. a threat to score every time he touched the ball.

going to post some HLs of him-

freshman year vs. arky in the SEC champ-

same counter play years later in 2008-

overall HL-

we already have ADP running the ball and two big receivers in Boston and Jarret, so Harvin will indeed be lining up in the slot most of the time.

PC/orange select Deon Grant, Safety out of Tennessee

6'2/205/4.5

Quote:
Grant attended the University of Tennessee, and played for the Tennessee Volunteers football team from 1997 to 2000. He was selected as a consensus first-team All-American in 1999 after he tied for the NCAA lead with nine interceptions for 167 return yards. He finished the 1999 season with 69 tackles and eight pass breakups. He had two picks in three different games and earned SEC Defensive Player of the week after intercepting three passes versus Auburn. His leaping interception in UT's overtime win over Florida in 1998 was a crucial play in the Vols' march to the BCS National Championship. Grant left Tennessee and declared for the NFL Draft following his junior year.
With the safety board thinning out a bit, we needed to take someone relatively soon. Grant is a big safety with range and should fit in well with our defense.

Brees was 2nd in the heisman and played a spread but his stats weren't amazing (obviously hard to judge). He did struggle for a while in the NFL but obviously he is a HOF guy now.

I got a buddy who played on the team with Mccalister and he has stories about the sick amount of talent he had. Chris also is about the dumbest person in the world. You know he's broke now, right? like living with his parents broke.

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...child-support/

I think he's a great pick, an all-timer of a college DB.

This may be a dumb pick, I have no idea, but it's a value pick

I'm going to draft my X-player now

Spoiler:
CJ Spiller, RB/KR/PR/WR - Climpson

With Warrick and Bush on the roster this is just value at this point, but he's a guy I keep expecting to be picked and he hasn't been yet, so here he goes.

Spiller was a beast in all aspects of the game, sharing time at RB until his senior year when he went into God-mode and carried Clemson to an ACC title. Along the way he was a Heisman trophy finalist and unanimous All-American.

Spiller has track speed (and was an All American in track), and fantastic hands.

Stats:

Season Rushing Receiving Special Teams
Att Yds Avg Lng TD Rec Yds Avg Lng TD PR KR TD
2006 129 938 7.3 80 10 19 210 11.1 82 2 11–33 13–324 0
2007 145 768 5.3 83 3 34 271 8.0 68 2 16–137 19–547 2
2008 116 629 5.4 57 7 34 436 12.8 83 3 18–189 19–516 1
2009 201 1212 5.6 66 12 36 503 14.0 63 4 8–210 21–708 5
Total 591 3,480 5.9 83 32 120 1,362 11.4 83 11 53–569 72–2005 8

He was drafted 9th overall by the Bills, and though he's had playing time issues, actually has made an impact at a WR.

TEAM:
Matt Leinart - QB
Reggie Bush - RB
USC 2005 O-Line
Roy Williams - WR
Peter Warrick - WR
CJ Spiller - KR/PR/RB/WR

David Pollack - DE
Gerard Warren - DT
Jonathan Vilma - OLB
Roy Williams - S
Carlos Rogers - CB
