They were obviously playing for this result so they must think otherwise.

very good job from chelsea defensively but they lack fast wingers and therefore were not able to bring barca into trouble

Toure is a sick sick player btw
Due to the great offensive game of barca people often miss how good of a season toure has

Epic performance from Chelsea, and a massive LOL to anyone saying they didnt play well, there organisation and defending was world class, they are the first team to stop Barcelona scoring this season and could have hit Barcelona with a suckaaa punch a few times.

Taking off Lampard for Belleti pretty much signaled Gooos's intent at 70 mins. HOLD..

All to play for at the Bridge.

Chelsea ( Hiddink ) started the game WANTING a 0-0 draw. They're are probably celebrating in the dressing room atm.

He played a 4-6 formation ( not even 4-5-1 ), with Cech as a playmaker ( fwiw he's terrible at getting the ball to an area with a Chelsea player ), they got what they wanted from the game, it'd be interesting to see how they'll try to get a goal at Stamford Bridge without conceding one. ** Unless they intend to take to PK from the start, which would be weird but not entirely impossible **

I don't mind losing to Man U in the semi's but i just hope that Chelsea don't make it to the finals.

this game was more similar to how I remember Barca's games against Liverpool and Utd in recent years than I thought it would be.
I guess Barca was more in control this game than those though in the sense that they allowed a lot less, but worryingly that their great improvements hasn't at all meant that they're even close to automatically break down a strong team capable of playing a great defensive game.

All in all very good news for United IF they were to meet in the final. They can pull off a similar strong defensive performance BUT at the same time be much more dangerous in transition than Chelsea.

that is where ManU would be able to take advantage of Barca. Nani, Park, and of course Ronny all posses the kind of pace on the wing that should be able to open the game up against barca if we meet them in the final

Have to second this, was surprised about how effectively he countered what little forward momentum we had. He was immense.

Also should have added that watching Cech kick the ball straight to Barca 10 times in a row was massively tilting.

Im really happy with the result could of been better obv if drogba took his first half chance but overall im happy.
Thought cech had a good game aswell after a few recent dodgy performances.
Lol at people saying it's a bad result, tbh i would of took a 1 nil loss before the game and would not of thought that as a terible result.
Cant wait till next wendsday now, should be good!

edit: and i mean for the whole match i can see why they would play so defensively late in the match
if they played more offensively they would have got beat. The main thing is not to lose. Getting a victory at stamford bridge agiainst a team who will have to try and win also is a lot easier than trying to break down a team who will come and defend a first leg victory.

Also chelsea will win at home 1-0 probably and it will be a chelsea man u final which even as a man u fan would be horrible. i would prefer to play barca.

Decent result for Chelsea, and sadly they still had the best chance imo with Drogba in the first half despite getting outshot 20-3 I think was the final count.

If man u doesnt win tommorow, ill be surprised.

Why, please someone tell me, do Barca insist on trying to get past 9 players by going through the center corridor instead of just giving it to Messi and Alves and have them completely own Bosingwa's ass every time? They did it like twice early in the first half and then they stopped, Messi started drifting aimlessly around the center of the pitch and unsurprisingly didn't create much of anything.

ok, this is a bit of a stretch imo, chelsea did play well defensively but as to barca not even being close, really? seems to me that they broke down chelsea quite a bit but proceeded to "run bad" on all their attempts.

they just didnt put enough energy into their counter attacks and with only drogba up there it didnt look very effective. in malouda, joe cole and even ricardo quaresma they dont lack fast wingers imo

this.

i loved the way chelsea played - they got lucky with some bad ref calls but thats just what you need to walk away with a draw from Camp Nou.

I actually thought this was a very entertaining game - just great to watch these teams play at a very high level.

Also who do Barca have at CB aside from Pique with Marquez and Puyol both missing the 2nd leg?

malouda isnt really fast and not really a counterattack player imo
joe cole is injured
quaresma sucks

barca have gabriel milito as backup for puyol/marquez

ok, I guess I can understand neutrals and chelsea fans thinking that chelsea will win at the bridge, but 1-0?? really?? you guys really think chelsea will hold barca scoreless for 180+ minutes?

Milito ( But he's also injured ). They also have Cacares, haven't seen him play other than once. Abidal could switch to CB.

Ok I haven't read most of the thread but the people calling it a crappy performance from Chelsea are obviously new to Champions League Football.

They set our their stall to defend, they restricted Barca mainly to tons of possession and half-chances, and they got a couple big saves when they needed them. They also had the single best chance of the match, FWIW.

Don't get me wrong, I understand Barca could have had a goal or two on another day. But Chelsea defended very well and got a good result against the most talented team in the world.

Edit: I just noticed that the Bayern fan basically said this exactly. He would know!
