His are all real in at least one major poll:

1961 - 1 in Coaches & AP
1964 - 1 in Coaches & AP
1965 - 4 in Coaches, 1 in AP
1973 - 1 in Coaches, 4 in AP
1978 - 2 in Coaches, 1 in AP
1979 - 1 in Coaches, 1 in AP

He never claimed the 1966 title even though Bama was the only unbeaten and untied team that year, Notre Dame and Sparty both finished 9-0-1 and were 1-2. They handed out titles before the bowl games in those days, plus neither ND nor Sparty played in a bowl that year.
