I don't want to derail so this will be a my last post regarding the subject for now, but ill consider your retorts an pm you if i think i have anything worthwhile to respond with. Or if i get specific mention from the mods they'll allow for this debate to continue.

yes, they have a good back field, and greg olsen is pretty good, but their defense is (was) like.....the WOAT.
First off, I want to be clear that this debate has nothing to do with how good Cam is. How he effects the players around him is relevant, and ill try to address that along the way as much as possible.
I watch a lot of panthers games. Arguing that Cam lacked weapons (or had anything remotely close to the level of what rookie GOAT) isn't gonna get you far.
Cam's rookie #1 threat
Steve Smith is still a top 10 #1 threat absolute minimum. He isn't what he used to be (which was arguably the best receiver in the game. He made Jake Delhomme look good in his prime almost single-handedly). He's an elite deep threat (which complements Newton's wonderful deep game perfectly) and he's at least + at pretty much everything else aside from height. His presence alone changes the way defenses play against you for obvious reasons.
Josh's #1 threat (s)
I'm just going to lump Kellen Winslow and Antonio Bryant together in this paragraph. Bryant was coming off a career year in which he had 80 1200 8 or something. He got tagged, and suffered a knee injury in training camp. He had a few good games with josh (3 91 1 vs atl and 5 116 vs car) but made little to no impact in the other games. His lack of effort could be diva receiver syndrome, or just being on a bad offense. I do know one thing though: he never played another down in the nfl due to the knee injury (and probly getting 9 million from the tag). Winslow gets open underneath and has good hands, but has WOATish yac ability and doesn't stretch the field. Somebody has to accumulate some stats, even on bad teams. I doubt either would be a top 32 "#1 theat" in 2009
Cam's secondary receivers, TE's RB's vs Josh's
Brandon LaFell has his flaws, but he's a solid deep threat who has to be accounted for. Naane sucks ass. Olson and Shockey are both solid threats in the passing game. Williams and Stewart are an elite RB duo. They averaged together 5.4 ypc (which is over 1.5 ypc more than 09 bucs RB's Cadillac Williams and Derrick Ward). Stewart had 413 yards receiving (I believe RB's who are receiving threats should be treated as such, making them much more valuable) and 8.8 ypc. Bucs other receivers included Michael Clayton (Don't get me started. Possibly the worst year for a receiver all time). He was a STARTER for most of the year- 48 targets 16 catches 230 yards. 5 and 93 were in week 1 vs dallas, including an IMMACULATE 47 yard over the shoulder tip toe catch along the sideline-

Because you will never witness a less likely even that Michael Clayton catching that football. ever. in your life. Sammie Stroughter, Maurice Stovall (not even going to bother), and JOHN GILMORE GOAT.
Defense
They both sucked ass real bad, so im just going to vent about sabby piscitelli. You might think at this point in time that Michael Clayton was the worst player on the 09 bucs (how could he not be?). You, my friend are sadly mistaken. Let me introduce you to a guy named Sabby Piscitelli. You might go to youtube and look for his highlights. You will not find any. You will find this.

Oh, i know, it's just one play right? Wrong. This is the life of sabby piscitelli. He was rated the #2 least valuable NFL player by some random idiot who clearly knows what he's talking about. who is #1?
yeah, the guy that steve smith made into a superbowl qb
http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-tr...ers-in-the-nfl
"After a dismal 2009, Piscitelli responded to losing his job in camp by all-but-invoking "Operation Shutdown"; he got back into the lineup after rookie Cody Grimm broke his ankle, promptly gave up a touchdown after biting on a run fake, and got cut anyway. His unique mix of blown tackles, dreadful instincts, and inflated ego really make him the worst player to see regular time in the NFL over the past several years. …"
Words cannot describe how terrible sabby piscitelli is. He once noticed he got iso'd in man to man with Roy Williams at the 20 yard line. Do I really have to tell you what happened? Once I saw that, i knew what was going to happen. 80 yard td. against roy fin williams. But he's just a slow white guy maggert! no he's not slow. He ran an effing 4.44 an he's a SS. He's the spitting image of most 25 year old italians too!
You may be wondering "maggert, why are you ranting about the 09 bucs". If you had any concept whatsoever as to how terrible this team was (beat the saints tho. jash wim), then you could fully understand why I was flabbergasted by the 2010 bucs/freeman. I don't care how weak the schedule was, I don't care how "lucky" the wins were. I saw a fire so undeniable, a WIM so inpenatrable, a leader so great, that I was certain the only plausible explanation was this man was about to ascend towards greatness. "But Maggert, the 2011 Bucs were horrible!" I know. I live in Tampa. Josh and Raheem and most of the players were out getting hammered on weeknights regularly. They didn't care I'm like WTF the HEAD COACH is doing this in the middle of the most epic collapse of a team in recent memory? RAHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEM MOOOOOORRRRRRRRRRISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSs. Enter Greg Schiano. I don't know if he knows football, but he's a hardass. good enough for me
GOAT, is gonna GOAT

i'll try to bring this on topic: you know a qb is killing it when he can't even beat out his rb who had 781 yards rushing last season for the madden cover vote.
