I only watched the 2nd half on, so i missed the bad and only got to see the good. the good was really, really good - pierce's domination, wow. perks huge block on JON/eddie nailing the trey. when focused, this is the best team in the association

just finished watching on the ol' DVR. I kept myself distracted during the first half somewhat in what I call "adventures in baking potatoes". My antique oven is a piece of **** and I had to resort to the toaster oven. It was still delicious at least.

Hopefully Pierce's second half gets him going from here on out, because he has been downright awful offensively for the previous 5 games (yet no one was calling for his head like they would have with Ray, who kept us in this game in the 1st half).

If Rondo passes up another layup I'm going to stab him. It's so ****ing frustrating. He could be like Tony Parker if he made his at the basket game respectable. Not as good at converting, obv, but he's got superior floor vision and it'd open it up even more for him.

This was the first game we got all 3 playing really well. That's nice.

Sam Mitchell is an idiot. He just let Kapono get slayed.

Boy that KG has a lot of class...even Boston fans have to wonder how the heck he didn't get T'd up for that? That is taunting in every sense of the word. Any other player, it would be a T.

But you guys deserved the win because we f'd up at the end and you're the champs. Once we can acquire someone who can guard Pierce we'll compete with the C's. And not have to rely on going 15-17 from 3 point land (or whatever the ridiculous stat was when we beat you last year on your homecourt).

Last edited by Vinconce; 11-11-2008 at 01:55 AM. Reason: Also it doesn't hurt that KG changes refs decisions by yapping in their ear, and Pierce gets every call every time...lol :-)

lol, i left a voicemail on GKA's phone saying: "the truth is pretty dirty, but it is pretty funny they had kaponovitch on him for the entire 4th - you'd think they'd realize 'maybe this white guy cant guard pierce' ?"

Mitchell is awful as a coach, no surprise there. No one on the Raps can guard Pierce but Kapono is just LOL. Though it isn't as bad as when he had Calderon guard Kobe for ~3 quarters a couple years ago. Which resulted in Kobe going off for 81.

eh. you mean the between quarter yapping between him and Jose "Merry Brandybuck" Calderon? It's all in good fun no Ts necessary.

No one can really shut down Pierce, but you guys have Anthony Parker and Jamario Moon. Both are at least capable of making him work. Leaving Kapono on him was such an epic fail by Mitchell.

No I mean him waving his finger in JC's face as he dribbled up the court. It's a joke how the refs let that slide. Love Calderon for not backing down though.

yeah, i really wanted to know why they didn't switch parker over to pierce. pierce wasn't using his body/posting up, it was more just in kapono's face-because-kapono-doesnt-even-have-a-hand-up type shot.. a few of the shots pierce made were contested, but meh. he was just grooving.

atleast try something, really.

This is from Jalen Rose's segment in ESPN's daily dime. http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailyd...ge=dime-081111

who is worse: Rose or Rivers?

Quote:
"The average player could not have withstood that in the first half," said Rivers. "The average player misses shots and shuts off. The great players miss a shot and he starts thinking the odds are on his side. That's what makes him great."

Well, after that type of -- or lack of -- performance through the first three quarters, the odds were definitely in Pierce's favor. And Rivers saw that.

So, even with Pierce playing 33:23 through three quarters, Rivers gambled and kept him in the fourth to see if the odds would work out.

And let's just say ... they worked out.
I don't even think I can add anything else here. Going to bed!

what a sick shot by PP.

I wish the Lakers would play some close games so Kobe can do that. Oh well. Maybe we will play a close game in the Finals.

just finished watching the game. Sick ending obv. I actually thought the Hawks were going to win with about 2 mins left. So winning was nice.

1. ATL was ****ing red hot, which is mainly why I figured they'd win. Cs, on the other hand, were ice cold from beyond the arc.
2. They're a legit squad. They did this without J-Smoove and Zaza.
3. We really need a backup 3. We can't keep carting Pierce out there for 44 mins.
4. One of the worst officiated games I've seen. I don't know who that short hobbit white dude was, but he was awful. That foul in the 1st when Zaza set a moving screen and got his ass run over, but freeing up Bibby nonetheless. He wasn't even looking at the play. He just saw Zaza on the floor after the shot and blew the whistle. That was a 3 point swing (should have been moving screen, no shot). He wasn't the assclown who called the attrocious foul on the Pierce block at least. Not sure who that was.

seriously, Danny has to be scouring the league for a backup 3. A backup 3 would benefit Tony Allen, too, imo. He sucks playing alongside Pierce it seems.

Yeah, TA and PP aren't great coupled together, which is odd since they're our best defensive wings. Both thrive more with the ball in their hands rather than as kickout/spot up options (whereas Ray, for all his minuses, never lets his man leave him and can play the corner well)

Again, it just makes me scratch my head why we didnt

take a chance/make it happen/pop a cork/fingers snappin'/spin the wheel, round and round/we go!

...

anyway, take a chance on Miles. Or try Walker at the 3. Pierce has been outstanding and our team MVP, but there really is no need to play him this many mins in the reg season

i was offered tickets to either mondays game or wednesdays game, and was kicking myself while watching bos/tor, thought i missed a classic. last night was just so sick, the atmosphere in the last 10 seconds was insane.

was the officiating as bad as it seemed live? im completely biased, but there were probably 3 or 4 complete phantom calls that replays confirmed. too bad tommy isnt mic'd to the crowd.

Well, tough loss. It happens.

Rondo needs to score better. Not much better, but 1-8 is harsh. He's basically our version of Kidd, but we need him to play with confidence. He also should be playing ~37 mins a game.

Pierce and Allen's minutes need to go down a lot, too. Our bench has major flaws.

agree with you, rondo is really a liability on offense. i hate to admit it, but the metrics just dont do him justice - dude can't shoot OR finish.

agree that we DO have an issue with our bench. im cringing at the thought of an injury bc we cant handle one, flatout. problem is none of our PGs can play SG (house in a super small lineup) and neither SG can play SF (tony allen way too small, so a ray/tony 2/3 is small and soft). we have a versatility issue i suppose.

been saying this all along, rondo is fine with the ball in his hands but terrible without it, and we have 3 all-stars so the ball shouldn't be in his hands often hence....

I know it's a pipe dream but imagine if we had a PG with Billups, perfect fit for our team, not jus cause hes a great player but because hes great without the ball aka great shooter and can play great defense also.

Agreed, but rondo's defensive contributions shouldnt be overlooked... i mean id like so many other sub-premium PGs for our offense, but overall, im pretty thrilled w/ my little boy

I def agree about Rondo's d, I mean I started a thread a year ago that said he was the best defensive PG in the league (prob wrong at the time but he was def top 3).

Still I would just wish he could constantly hit an open jump shot, it would make our offense so much better.

I mean the Lakers pretty much exposed Rondo in the NBA finals (other teams had done so also but the Lakers did the best job on him that I can remember). Everyone just seemed to forget it because Rondo had an amazing game 6 even though he had an awful series overall.

totally agree. the hope is rondo eventually will develop a jump shot, but if he doesnt do it this year, i doubt he ever will
