Declining? He's in his prime, clearly. Not that I expect him to get better, his numbers should stay consistent with his production over the last few seasons.

Will be very interesting to see what Semin gets though. Any chance he's KHL bound? It seems like the perfect fit for him on all fronts.

This is so xenophobic. I'm just appalled.

btw, very slow pony but I just found out tonight that Radulov's making $9.2 mil US/yr over in Moscow, sweet baby Jesus. If it's tax free, he might be the highest paid professional hockey player in the world, or am I forgetting someone?

Sept 14, 2011 - July 2, 2012. RIP Drought. A happy Canada day indeed. Enough for me not to be pissed about Brian Burke... being Brian Burke.

Scary ****...

Quote:
LONDON, Ont. — Brett MacLean of the Phoenix Coyotes has been admitted to hospital after suffering a cardiac emergency.

The team issued a statement on Tuesday saying the 23-year-old winger has been admitted to hospital in London, Ont., after suffering a medical emergency while playing hockey Monday night in Owen Sound, Ont.

The Coyotes said MacLean received CPR on site before being taken by ambulance to hospital in Owen Sound. He was then taken by air ambulance to London, where he was admitted to the cardiac intensive care unit.

Yeah the whole thing about it showing up in people without a history of heart problems or living with any known risk factors for SCA is pretty goddamn sobering.

I guess you consider his 94pt year an outlier then? Parise seems more like a low 30 goal guy rather than 40+, which is why these huge figures getting thrown out is puzzling to me. Nash at $7.8m until 2018 is considered something of an albatross, but he's the same age, and had virtually the same type of production of Parise.

Jesus christ Nash's Fenwick/Corsi numbers last year were atrocious.

I think Semin will actually get another opportunity in the NHL. If the Caps can't fill another top 6 fwd spot, I'd be ok with Semin coming back for $6m-$6.5m. I've got my eyes set on Brenden Morrow next July 1st, though.

Nash signed an extension, Parise is UFA, uncomparable

Parise is a play driver, the question is how much of one. He didn't really play well until the 2nd half of the season.

Over his last three full seasons, Parise has averaged about 82 points. Nash has averaged about 65. Then you factor in defense and play driving ability and the difference between them is relatively significant.

I was under the impression Semin and the Caps had moved on from each other. It's hard to see him anywhere else though except maybe Detroit, which is why I'm surprised to not hear more rumors about him going to the KHL. Not to perpetuate the stereotype of Russians bolting to the KHL, but he can't / doesn't speak English, avoids the spotlight, has an enegmatic reputation around the league, etc. Just seems like it would be a good fit for him as opposed to some random NHL team.

I have a feeling the Wild land both Parise and Suter. Which will suck, but I can live with it if it means that neither will play in Detroit, Philadelphia, or New Jersey. Bonus points if it leads to them doing something stupid like trading for Nash. I'm looking at you Holmgren.

I got the same impression, but who knows what will happen if nobody else is interested in him? KHL is probably likely though, CSKA will bring a truckload of money out for him

Did the flyers really offer parise/nash $110m+?

Tim Pannachio or whatever that dude's name is (Flyers beat reporter) said the Flyers had the biggest offer on the table for both Parise and Suter. But that was a few days ago and Minnesota could easily have outbid them in their desperate attempt to be relevant.

Nash is overrated. it's probably quite obvious to most GMs that he's the best player of a bad bunch at columbus.

In before Semin signs in New Jersey to Triumph's delight after Parise bolts.

btw, Parise does seem like the guy with a bunch of complementary skills that works good with better play drivers, like Zajac, and tends to fall off with worse ones. if he was russian, playing with borderline 2/3C like MJ90 or MP85, he'd be one snubbed interview away from the enigmatic moniker.
