Last year, players could be called up. This year, not a single player has been promoted from the AHL. Granted, most of the top 10 goals and points leaders spent most/all of the season in the AHL. But a couple who could have had higher totals were called up.

Last season, Keith Aucoin of Hershey was on pace to shatter the league's assist record. Had 59 asts and 70 points in 43 games. So his pace was for over 100 assists. The league record is 89 assists in 1953-54. But he was called up to Washington and then also got injured.

Cam Atkinson had 29 goals in 57 games with Springfield and then was called up to Columbus. He certainly could have finished with more than the league high of 39 by Cory Conacher of Norfolk had he stayed in the AHL.

He may single-handedly save LA Kings momentum.

The Kings version of George Parros, in that he fights and went to Princeton.

rat,
just a guy with his name on the Stanley Cup.
I know it's been awhile, but do keep up.

Actually, he's been the player most involved in the process. been to most if not all of the meetings to date.

Ooorrrr that was already planned, so nvmd.

How does Rob Rossi get away writing crap like this? Oh wait, it's the lolPittsburgh sports media nevermind.

Quote:
Arguably the world’s finest hockey player, Crosby is not in his natural element when trading gear for a tailored suit so he can talk about the business of hockey with NHL owners. He prefers jeans and T-shirt.

Tuesday in New York, though, a suit-wearing Crosby could do something Pittsburghers have come to expect from their Penguins franchise stars, something that can turn him into an icon.

This should be his shot at saving hockey
Quote:
Burkle and Crosby were described by participants in the five-hour talks as voices of reason. Their shared point of view: The NHL should not risk another round of canceled games — they’re already canceled through Dec. 14 — and the league may not recover if a season is lost to a labor dispute for the second time in eight years, the sources said.
Crosby: Guys I don't think we should cancel more games.
Everyone else: Yeah, we heard you the first 100 times you and everybody else said it now kindly STFU
*Time passes... deal gets signed*
Rob Rossi: Sidney Crosby saves hockey!

so if the lockout isn't settled soon, and his shoulder is good, the Nuge might play in the world juniors this year. would be pretty funny, a guy who had 18g/52pts in 62gp as a rookie last year in the NHL & a ppg average in the AHL this year playing against junior kids again. like the last lockout when Bergeron played a full season the year before, then was on that stacked junior team bc he had nothing better to do (was also about a ppg in the AHL that year).

figured the potential player pool might be overly strong bc of the stoppage, but not really. Huberdeau, Scheifele, Strome, Jenner, Ryan Murphy, Doug Hamilton, etc. good, but not amazing or anything.

G - should be Subban's brother, otherwise Jordan Binnington, Laurent Brossoit, etc

D - should be really strong with Murphy, Hamilton, Morgan Rielly, Scott Harrington, Xavier Ouellet, Griffin Reinhart, Matt Dumba, Derrick Pouliot, etc to choose from

F - outside of the centers (RNH, Huberdeau, Scheifele, Strome), the names aren't exactly jumping out at me, but they can usually find 12-13 pretty good ones. also depends on which guys they can move over the wing. Ty Rattie, Nathan MacKinnon, Jonathan Drouin, J.C. Lipon, Hunter Shinkaruk, Matt Puempel, etc will be fighting for spots. then there's the grinders, Tom Wilson, Mark McNeill, prob lots of guys for the bottom-6.

the Americans named their camp roster too.

it's in Ufa, Russia this year, so you got home ice, sylar. your move.
