and if that's the case, they were operating on a razor thin margin and couldn't afford those players anyway. the strike shouldn't've cost them money beyond what they would have made in the playoffs, which could have been a lot but which also could have been 2 or 3 home games (afaik 94 was the first wild card year). and if you have to make the playoffs in baseball to afford your players you're screwed because making the playoffs is really hard.
look the 94 strike was the WOAT thing to happen to me sports-wise and i really stayed away from baseball for 10 years because of it, but i'm not buying that the strike killed the expos. hurt, yes, killed, no.
