Not sure if I'd go that far. Basically all of Sweden's big guns from last year are still eligible (Zibanejad, Forsberg, Collberg, Brodin, Rakell, Klefbom) and the Russians will have the best 1-2 punch at the tournament with Yakupov and Grigorenko. Neither team will be as deep through 4 lines as the Canadians or Americans but top end talent is the great equalizer in short tournaments, especially at this level - look at what Mikael Granlund did with a very mediocre Finnish team last year.

meh zibanejad will be in the NHL probably (possibly), and canada is just way deeper than those teams. russia doesn't have the D. obviously again it's a short series and lots can happen but canada should be at least -100 to win the whole thing.

I guess you've blown my mind with logic.

But then where do the 9s and 10s go?

entertainment industries where the employees are the product?

lol @ having any sympathy for the owners

and have fun giving Katz a billion dollar arena or whatever

OK Tom Cruise gets 20 million and the movie makes 500 million Not the same. I watch TSN and Sidney says its not about the money and its all the owners that will not budge? Lets just get a deal done. The only thing he is right if they do not get a deal done they both lose.

50/50 is fair
5 year contracts I am fine with
5 % variance in contracts keeps owners from front ending contracts.

Players have a beef about pushing free agency further.

Katz is an idiot Makes a deal than tries to get more after it all. Kudos to City of Edmonton. If Bettman not letting the Coyotes move no way the Oilers going anywhere

I'd rather watch Sidney Crosby dance than serve me beers if you know what I mean.

if tom cruise's movie tanks, he still gets his $20M unless he's getting part of the gross. that's not how the NHL is now. if the NHL doesn't do well, the players lose some of their paychecks. please don't extend this analogy any further, it's terrible enough as it is.

no it isn't. it's just fair because it sounds like it's fair. there's no way in a free market that the players would get 50% of revenue.

also big movie stars can get points on the thing too, so if it does well they get more

they can also move in production, etc

but w/e, bad analogies are bad

Oh I agree that in a free market they never get 50%

I just think NHL players are lucky the receive the salaries they do. Yeah the owners gave them to much last time. Now they are trying to correct it. They want baseball type deals without the baseball type of revenue.

We all know CDN's will be back in droves and if you give up your season ticket 10 will be there to buy it no matter what the product on the ice is. I think the US market may take a hit.

One can only post pictures of your team lifting the Stanley Cup for so long before you take pity on the rest of the thread.

Your happiness.

Maybe your expectations of being treated with respect.

A chance for your team to compete for a championship.

A year's worth of dreams. Moments away from the tedium of existence. A reason to drink. The calmness of the art of the thing. Some humour, camaraderie. A chance to contemplate strategy. A glance at the substantiation of statistics.

The fulfillment of promise. The personal dramas.
