Franchise60...you said Eli Manning was better than Ben last year and that he was "turning the corner to elite status."

Good call bro.

Not elite, but no one says he is. Much better than 80% of people around here give him credit for.

As a Giants fan, I wish Eli made passes when he's called to.

He's not quite on Cutler's level but Eli does have a propensity to choke under pressure making god awful decisions. Some of it is related to his habit of throwing high (lol tipped passes!) and bad luck, but he's not someone I really want with the ball in very high leverage situations.

That said, he's gotten quite a bit better than when we won the Super Bowl and there is hope for him yet to rise to the "elite" ranks of NFL QBs.

As it is, I think he's top 10 but well behind the top group of Brady, Peyton Manning, Brees, Rivers, and possibly Rodgers+Vick (they still need to repeat.) He belongs with the second tier of the "pretty good but not elite" QBs of Big Rape and Romo. He's be probably near bottom of that pile so I am going with top 10 but definitely NOT top 5.

Microwave short memories FTL.
Brady's award in 2001 wasn't great, but trying to give Eli credit for that drive when he tried his level best, multiple times, to throw game-ending interceptions is just amazing

The problem is really that when you can't focus in on one particular player that obviously dominated the game, they almost always just default to whoever the team's star/best story is. That happened in 2000 (Kyle Richardson should have won MVP, but lol punter so they gave it to Lewis), 2001 (couldn't target an individual player on the NE defense so default to Brady), 2005 (everyone sucked and you can't vote for the referee, so Hines Ward), 2007 (could have picked any one of Umenyiora, Tuck, Strahan but no one of them dominated over the other two, so default to Eli)

It happens, but Eli getting MVP after trying repeatedly to throw the game away was awesome

Eli's not in a group with Romo and Roethlisberger, he's in a group with Cutler and Orton

Lol @ can't vote for refs. I generally agree.

But still it's ridiculous to say that he was terrible on the drive or "threw the game away" - Samuel dropped an int, so what. You have to take some chances down 4 that maybe you wouldn't if you're down 3 or tied. The Tyree play was a 3rd&long so he had to try and make a play and got lucky. He also completed a nice 3rd&10 to Smith on the sideline that nobody remembers before the Burress TD. Now Favre against the Saints last year - that was throwing a game away, even if the int was dropped.

Nah. But Eli has gotten better since he won the Super Bowl.

I really think he's top 10 now. There is a pretty steep drop off after the Rivers/Brees/Rodgers group to get to Tony Romo and Big Rape but I don't think Eli is much worse than Big Rape or Romo.

My blue colored lenses may be clouding my judgment.

The formatting is god awful, but Rivers seems to be much better than Eli and Ben based on playoff stats "table" posted.

big ben's "fantastic" super bowl was a pedestrian 6.3 any/a and that was against a poor pass defense and includes a miracle td catch by holmes.

dude just sucks in super bowls. lucky for him the rest of his team was good enough to overcome him twice
