Sample size....

I find this argument interesting from an ACC homer whose team is the worst in the league. Justifying his team's performance, perhaps?

Look at the Sagarin #'s, the difference in the middle isn't as big as you are claiming. The difference at the top is HUGE though.

hmmm maryland is about to go to 4-4 in the ACC. with 4 wins over top 25 teams (first team in the nation to do that, i think UF and another team may have gotten 4). And they would thrash Any team not in the top 4 of the sec, so what does that say about the SEC?

there are not enough cross conference games to know the answer when the differences are this small

And of course it's convenient for an ACC homer to say "take out UF/Bama" because those teams are FAR better than ANY team in the ACC. The ACC hasn't had a contender in a long time.

I did. In the case where you only look at the middle 8 in each conference, the ACC is 0.4 point favorite on average and a favorite in 35 out of 64 match-ups. So yeah, the middle of the SEC isn't as good as the middle of the ACC, but the best of the SEC more than makes up for the worst.

That, and it uses RATING, as opposed to PREDICTOR.

I love how anyone who disagrees with anti SEC stuff is an "SEC Homer," even if we don't root for an SEC team.

I said it was close, but I think having two top 5 teams and being way better at the top is better than being deeper in the middle. You can't except anything less than BOOOM ACC>>>>SEC, but you're wrong.

Yeah, using the whole conference is far inferior to only using 2/3 of the teams.

look @ the central average, the ACC is still ahead of the SEC and that includes ever team weighted equally

Predictor was already posted in this thread, and disagrees with you:

SEC: 2, 8, 17, 18, 30, 33, 47, 48, 57, 63, 85, 103
ACC: 19, 20, 22, 27, 28, 31, 32, 40, 55, 58, 68, 71

NC state's sagarin rating is 73.43 (worst in the ACC going into today)

Auburn, Tenn, Arkansas, and Miss St. All have worse ratings.

some people need to actually read the op and not just the title.

ops whole discussion is about how the sec is nothing outside bama and florida and that "like 8 acc teams could finish in the top 4 in the sec".

1. My first post responds to that.

2. Read the title, and then wonder why the thread has gone where it's gone

This is where I'm at, but with a gun to my head I'd say SEC because the top is so much better.
