If you're going with little one off storylines, then how about these?
-someone runs a 1:59:59 marathon. And to top it off, how about it's ran by a South African at the 2020 Summer Olympics in South Africa?
-#1 overall pick lives up to his hype a few years into his career, highlighted by scoring 101 points in an NBA game, 93 goals in an NHL season, QBing his team 19-0 to win the Super Bowl, throwing a perfect game to win the World Series, or whatever something awesome like that may be in his respective sport.
-someone finally wins all 4 majors or grand slam events in the same year in this modern era. A 50+ year old veteran winning a golf major would be pretty awesome, especially if it were a guy who had a lot of success in the past and it were a heroic story (like Phil Mickelson finally winning the U.S. Open on his 50th birthday to complete a career grand slam.) Equally cool would be a guy like Roger Federer winning a grand slam event when he is like 35 years old after not having won one for 7 years.
Get more epic and creative, people.
He did say plausible.
A) Marathon record today is 2:03:59. To do it in 1:59:59 is 3.5% faster. That's not happening in 9 years.
B) 1st and 2nd are not happening ever. 3rd is very unlikely considering game is probably going to 18 games (so need to go 21-0), 4th is likely to happen in your lifetime (halladay threw a no-hitter in playoffs).
C) Not happening.
Seriously be realistic
