Thiem will destroy Zverev.

Osaka is a bundle of nerves, Azarenka is doing nothing wrong.

Azarenka playing perfectly. Haven't watched womens tennis in a while - didn't realize that they're now playing much more aggressively and almost close to style of mens tennis. No more "pushing" seems like

just has the look that Osaka will dominate from here on out

Good turnaround from Osaka. Forehand looking huge.

This is how it’s turning out. Since Osaka upped her level, Azarenka has looked unable to cope.

I gave it a go, it's unwatchable with players like her. What ever happened to the penalising for the grunts?

Ridiculous that they get away with that.

Fiver I put on Zverev at 2.6 after the first break is looking like a good investment at the moment.

If Zverev somehow loses the 2nd set after being up 5-1 and 2 breaks, I would say he almost has 0% chance of winning the match.

I feel even if Zverevev holds and wins 2nd set here, I think momentum with thiem now. If he picks up his play, prolly wins this in 5. Think thiem > zverev. obv slight edge to zverev up 2-0 but i feel if he loses a set, he might get tight playing for 1st slam.

Zverev seems like a good player but something isn't right between the ears. I think hes the type of player that looks amazing at times but is not that level of player that will win slams or multiple slams. An example is his semi win. If he was playing a real killer like nadal, federer, djoker...... He doesn't come back to win in 5sets. He was playing some clay courter spaniard that has no real right to be in the semis at the us open lmao.

Even Nadal doesn’t stand as far back to receive serve as Thiem has this match. He’s not steeping in on the second serve either. Giving Zverev so much room.

Why do the announcers feel the need to force the conversation about there not being an asterisk? Of course there is an asterisk and everyone knows there is, including Fowler and McEnroe.

the fact nadal + fed arent there should cause an asterisk alone lol. I mean fed is injured but nadal skipped it to not risk covid etc etc. I don't consider this a legit win for who wins it. I don't think anyone in the semis would beat nadal at this us open.

along with fact they didn't need to beat djoker.

Fed only took the surgery because there was a period out. You've also got Stan who sat out if he got far he'd have beaten all these in the semi too as once he gets going he's a beast. Nick would have fancied his chances as well without the big three there if he'd take it serious.

but yeh, the fact that neither of these have won a slam is going to hold it against them. If this was Murray away to win his fourth it wouldn't be so bad - same with Osaka. Barty, Halep, Svitolina, Andreescu, Bertens, Bencic etc etc all

Anyone here think Fed can still win a slam? I really think it would be awesome to see him win another slam.

I'm a big nadal fan (i'm part of the nadal>fed crowd) but Fed is great for the game and obv might be the hard/grass GOAT imo. I would consider nadal the goat of clay though. I would feel kinda bad if Fed goes out on injury during covid when the guy still plays at such a high level at an advanced age. Andy Roddick retired at 30 ( i know we cant compare him to fed lmao) when he was nonperforming at most tournies compared to his 20s. The fact Fed hasnt dropped off when we have all of these 20 somethings coming up and playing well is just amazing.

Really hope we get to 5 sets here. I think zverev is in trouble here. Think hes needs to win the 4th or hes in big trouble becauase the longer this goes, edge goes to Thiem.

I think Thiem may have came out with some pressure (wanna say he is 7-2 h2h against zverev) so i'm sure he was tight during early stages of the match. Once he gets comfortable, hes going to show his class edge over zverev i feel.

I would say us open and possibly aussie open he might be able to win.

He really has to step up his game though. Idk if he can at this age. I feel late 30's is all downhill but who knows.

He's obviously got a chance but to go through Rafa and/or Novak over 5 sets at his age is tough. It'd be tough to go 5 sets against anyone.

Thiem has to be the favour now.
