I'm gonna need to see the hawkeye on that one. Fact that they're not showing it seems pretty suspicious.

what was Stan's probability of winning that set (before factoring in WIM)?

I agree! It looked out on each replay, and the fact that they're not showing the hawkeye version or a super slo-mo close up (both of which are not binding to the umpire, obviously, but I think they would show if it were in) makes me think it was out.

Amazing match, though.

Lot of fun matches & setups for the QFs tomorrow. Zverev/Fognini, Thiem/Monfils, and Khachanov/Del Potro.

Wawrinka / Fed, and Nishikori / Nadal tomorrow.

Novak / Zverev, and Thiem / Khachanov on Wednesday.

I'm going with:

Wawrinka, Nadal, Novak, Thiem

I know they're better, but it's rather crazy that all the top 4 were finished with their R16 matches seemingly even before their prospective QF opponents got onto the court.

Nope.

I hope it’s a good match but can’t see anything other than Rafa in 3.

O/U on Rogers game?

I make the same post every time Stan plays Fed. Maybe I'll be right once before they retire.

Fed/Rafa will be boring.

Predictions for tomorrow?

Obvious answers are Novak and Thiem, but Zverev and Khachanov are both good enough to win.

I love that we get 3 young guns on that side of the draw, though, no matter how this turns out.

I still don’t get how Roger can just rock up and get this far in a major at his age.

Just incredible.

Djokovic vs Zverev maybe the biggest mental strength mismatch in GS QF history

Right after the most mental strength deprived R16 match ever as well (Zverev/Fognini)

Zverev vs Novak head to head:

Finals of the clay 2017 Rome M1000: Zverev 6-4, 6-3.

Semifinals of the 2018 Shanghai M1000: Novak 6-2, 6-1.

ATP London 2018: Zverev 6-3, 6-4.

ATP London 2018 again: Novak 6-4, 6-1.

Of note: 2-2.
Also of note: all matches ended in straight sets.

...that being said, Novak in straight sets tomorrow is my prediction.

It would be tough enough if Zverev played near his best, but he has also had a couple lapses in form throughout the tournament too. Played 2 5-setters after being up 2 sets to love.

It's even his worst slam by a huge margin.

Some of it is basically every player 10+ years younger than Federer sucks. That there are 0 dominant 22-27yr olds has played a major role in Fed/Nadal/Djokovic still winning everything.

Well, Roger and Rafa are the two greatest players ever, Djokovic is arguably a top 5 player ever is as well. That’s a way bigger factor in making that bunch look poor.

Imagine how tough it must be to finally be able to beat say Roger in a slam then look at the draw and you have to play Novak next you’d be deflated, at least I’ll have an easy final oh wait, I’ve got Rafa...
