In many respects 2+2 is a bastion of hate. We hate because frankly the world hates too little. Particularly the sports world. We tune in to ESPN to hear Tom Rinaldi wax poetic on the struggles that have befallen the Paterno family and we cringe--not just for the words, but with the knowledge that this tacit media endorsement of the most unholy scourges of the sports world is convincing the public that hate is wrong. We are supposed to love, to lionize, and if we can't think of anything nice to say we should not say anything at all.
Well **** that we say. **** it all. But then, I wonder, will our hate consume us? Will there be anything left after all the LeBricks and Cutlahhhhhhs have been thrown?
In January of 2011, the table was set for a feast of hate the likes of which the world hasn't seen since the Crucifixion of Christ. How fitting then, that his only begotten son came to redeem us all from our path to hell and set us forward to righteousness.
The Steelers, aka lolstealer's, led by the man who rapes and the coach who has sullied Omar Epps' poor image were to face the Chosen One. He who could sex them all, but sexed none. He angered us. His awful throwing motion, his stunning good looks, his frank espousal of THE WORD to us Dawkins devotees.
The anticipation was thrilling. And more posts were made at the game's climax than ever before in 2+2 history. But was yet more amazing was what happened as we witnessed that which we were programmed to hate succeed so beautifully.
The Hate:
Quote:
This game is so awesome because no one gets haters mad like Tebow.. but everyone hates the Steelers.
The internal conflict of people watching this game is going to be incredible.
The Prediction:
Quote:
TEBOW has many haters. As do the Stealers. Just imagine how many converts Tebow can acquire whence he dispatches the known rapist by mid-3rd quarter, when Mike Tomlin waves a Terrible Towel that has been hastily spraypainted white before a laughing official.
Then, the only remaining TEBOW haterz will a small handful of atheists, most Stealer fans, and certainly all atheist Stealer fans.
The Stakes:
Quote:
Almost one thousand years since the Great Schism of 1054, Orthodox Christianity finally has the opportunity to prove itself as the superior Christian denomination.
I, for one, cannot wait.
The Moment:
Quote:
I AM SCREAMING MY ****ING HEAD OFF FOR A TEAM I HAVE HATED MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Scoreboard:
The Absolution:
For one brief moment in the cold, dark depths of winter a light shone on 2+2. And the haters loved.
