anyway, that was suchhhhh a brutal way to end the season. I mean to have one of the best second halfs ever, and then to play the opposite in a short series. Nothing translated from the team on paper to the team that played this week. these short series are full of variance, even 15-20 games in the postseason weve had against the yanks recently is a really small sample size. either way it feels ****ty to get trainwrecked for what seems like forever. Its hard to win a series when you could argue that cuddy was one of the better players for the twins.

This!!! its seriously the only ground we have to stand on until we loss to the yankess everytime for ten or more years and it becomes illogical.

team era, team batting average, and team fielding percentage im pretty sure. Like i mentioned though, these things dont translate perfectly into the post season, you could tell that the yankees experience and veterans had an effect on the series and the twins conversely looked young an inexperienced.

im not really sure what the yankees record in the playoffs is vrs the twins, i wanna say like 18-2. you cant say if they played 20 playoff games a bunch of times the result would be the same, so i mean i think its fair to say that variance played a hand in this series but its obviously really hard to quantify.

Starting pitching looked real good for NYY. Although, I think the Twins kind of threw in the towel after getting down 0-2, not that Hughes didn't pitch really well (he did), I just didn't think the Twins thought they had a chance at that point. Even though the numbers seemed down in the regular season for most of NYY's starting lineup (aside from Cano, I guess?), they have still have so many headaches in their lineup. It has to be brutal to gameplan against b/c you are forced to just pick your poison and go after someone. I think the NYY have a better lineup than Philly if Howard is going to just to continue to strikeout his way to $25m/year.

Starting pitching has been unreal for every team so far in the playoffs, though. Even the Reds starting pitching wasn't horrible. Would like to see Texas/NYY ALCS, just so another division gets a little love. I don't really care what happens in the ALCS, just hoping for a good series.

/end random thoughts

team batting average .273 to .267 MINN, Team ERA: 4.01 to 4.06 MINN, Team Fielding Percentage: .987 to .988 NY (this switched from the last week of the season when i checked at that time).

stats dont lie, but you could argue those stats are arbitrary though.

Again, it doesnt mean that the twins are better than the yankees in a post season series because stuff like experience and wim is pretty much impossible to quantify.
