Meh. Like I said. They did this to me in the 90s and it changed my life. Nothing can ever hurt as bad as your first playoff catastrophe and pretty much every Chiefs fan will tell you the same. It's like your first breakup. I'm sorry the younger generation is feeling this for the first time.

Mayock doesn't have space in his brain to think about basic game management what with having to remember the weight, 40-yard time and alma mater of the 6th-string defensive tackle on everyone's rosters.

Had to look up the 1990 incident. Sounds about right. How bad was the holding call?

On Dave Szott? Completely phantom. No on ever could find any angle one it. Holding on a ****ing running play where Okoye ran for 20 yards. Could have been Chiefs ball on the 10 down by 1 with 1 minute left. Instead Chiefs ball on 40, 2nd or 3rd down. Lowery still kicked a 50 yarder with the wind that landed 1 or 2 yards short.

We went out to a comedy club that night in attempt to escape our pain, and the comedian was just like "yeah, you're all ****ed and there's nothing I can do".

90 Miami? Ha, that merely saved ya 3 beatdowns @Buffalo in 4yrs.
At least we'll get to see those Houston Oiler highlights for another year+ so there's that.

Deberg threw 3 INTs that whole year. We had the best front line in the NFL with Thomas/Smith/Saleamua/Phillips. We win at Miami who knows what happens?

Contrast to this year I know we lost to Brady or Manning.

Hence I don't want to kill myself quite as much.

Keith Cash spiking the ball in in Buddy Ryan's poster's face is like a top 2 or 3 all time highlight for every Chiefs fan.

I wonder how many drunk Chefs fans said "you gotta take the points" when they kicked an 18 yard FG. I also wonder if that idiot #88 or #82 on the Chefs realizes y'all probably win if he simply sticks his right arm out in front of that defender and tries to hold it stiff as possible on the Bowe play. Probably not. And finally, I wonder if Andy Reid had to do it over again... I wonder if he'd go for it on 4th and 1 instead of kicking an 18 yard field goal. Probably not. So much lunacy in this world.

burned his last timeout on 4th down AFTER the 2 minute warning but before running a play.

by burning that timeout if they fail IND can run the clock out with knees.

Kicked a field goal from the IND 1 yard line.

Took two timeouts for apparently no reason in standard spots. OH BUT HE PROBABLY SAW SOMETHING IN THE DEFENSIVE LOOK.

Took his last timeout immediately following the two minute warning. Mayock said that in his opinion the defence was giving a favourable look to KC.

KC being thus out of timeouts, the Colts kneeled out the game.

It wasn't the worst coached game ever, it was just stupidity for no reason and the same thing Reid has done 1000x in the past and apparently never learns a thing from.

Hard to imagine that any Chiefs fan got *that* upset. The team clearly was zero threat to go to the Super Bowl. It would've been nice, and a capper on a great season, but hardly devastating.

a playoff win is basically our superbowl

once you win a superbowl (or a world series, or whatever) your expectations probably change...i wouldn't know

also obviously anything can happen in the playoffs

i will say though that i gave my buddy 5-1 odds on us making superbowl in the next 5 years for 500 bucks (i made this 3 years ago) so it's not the end of the world I suppose

i think of us like those epl teams who are just happy to not be relegated

12 steps? You may be referring to the 5 stages of grief:

Losing sucks, but losing after being up 28 in the second half sucks even more.

Everyone likes to dump on Reid for his decision making, but when you score 44 and lose, the blame has to go to the defense. Even if we had all three timeouts at the end of the game, we couldn't stop Indy anyway.

Alex Smith proved he's more than just a game manager. I don't think he's capable of putting the team on his back and carrying them to victory, but he's not going to be the reason we lose games.
