De Vries replacing Albon this weekend. As the world's only Formula E fan, I'm forced to wonder...how does DEV keep getting rides. His racing style is politely described as "bumper cars".

I am pumped to see another fellow Dutchman in F1 and will be rooting for him. He won the F2 followed by Formula E, so there is no lack of talent. I would be surprised if he did worse than loltifi

I see a lot of cars off the track at that one corner, are they getting penalized?

De Vries 0.4s better than Latifi. No practice under his belt or experience with the car.

It is disgraceful that Latifi has a seat in F1

Ferrari in a great position on pole with Sainz starting around 18th. So, they probably finish 4th & 10th. Can't wait.

Really helpful visual on how the starting grid came together as it relates to penalties

Leclrec & Verstappen start on same tires. Ferrari comes up with a strategy that requires two stops.

It's almost like they are purposely trying not to win.

Safety Car finish is lame.

I think we did learn that one of Williams biggest problem are their drivers

SC finish was the worst possible outcome. Where is Mikey when you need him.

Max wins anyway, but Carlos v. Russell would've been fun

Fantastic debut for Nyck. If only he could find some sponsors to back him. He's probably better than Albon and I'm not even going to compare with Latifi. Latifi is a waste of space in F1.

Not sure why it took so long to get RIC car off the track. lolitalians? it would have been fun to have 2 laps of racing at the end

It was stuck in gear so they couldn't just push it, had to wait for a cherry-picker to lift it (and they're never going to have a cherry-picker right by the track without a full safety car). I think if they immediately realised it was going to need that then they could have red flagged it to have a standing start and a few laps under greens but once it had already been a couple of laps I don't think there was really any other option than to finish behind the safety car.

The good thing of De Vries' performance is that I don't think any money can save Latifi's seat. That would really hurt Williams image.

I'd be very interested to see Max' onboard when he lapped Zhou. He appears to have helped De Vries and I wonder if there was any intention in there

It used to be a money seat. Maybe he is still around as it was a long term deal but should be gone year's end as they should easily have the money being a bunch of venture capitalists that own the team or can raise the necessary money

Yup, with the success of Drive to Survive. Now all F1 teams are super valuable and profitable.

In year's past, they would be desperate to find sponsor money. Different times now with the popularity of F1. American market has injected big hype and excitement to the business.

There's more Michael Latifi billionaire type's that are willing to dump money to F1.
Albon & Dev driving next year will be fun to watch. Alex must be so tilted inside missing the race, gave the dude his seat and he capitalised.

Got a source on all F1 teams being super profitable? Given everything I've read about the bottom 1/3 of the grid I would say that is largely untrue.

There is a bigger pie going around now with TV money and prize money and with the spending cap I'd say they are more profitable if they have the sponsorship as well which is probably the only downside and why someone like Latifi is needed but clearly with the greater following and TV audiences it should be a lot easier to sell spaces on their car as Mclaren and Red bull have shown (a new sponsor seems to appear on Red bull every race weekend and yes I know everyone likes success but there is a flow down effect to all teams of the interest that Max is generating for the sport).

F1 teams being profitable is just accounting nonsense. The only teams that can claim it are RedBull and Mercedes but their title sponsors are still putting tens of millions in those teams to cover their costs and nobody is making money from running the team. Also no other sponsors are putting up that kind of money. If Daimler leaves then the Mercedes F1 team would no longer be able to compete with RedBull and Ferrari. It also excludes their engine development.
Ferrari is special as they still get extra money for being Ferrari.
The rest of the teams barely make the cost cap and the team owners all put in lots of money. Only Alpine and McLaren have both drivers hired purely for their skill in that group.

In the interview with Brundle, Christian Horner says that it's only now that F1 guys have become rock stars. Get stopped everywhere and constantly have a spotlight on them. He says in year's past not many wanted to pour money into F1 as it's really difficult to get a ROI. Times have changed, many billionaires enjoy being part of F1 for status as well an exciting toy.

New money is coming in, huge American market is growing. Much easier to get sponsor money compared to year's past.
The halt on the Porsche/Redbull deal is partly due to how RB doesn't need that $, they super profitable on their own.

Around 100million fans watch F1 weekly, it's huge.

Toto claims all 10 teams might have a shot being in the green.

I think once Crypto gets Bullish again, more funny money will be poured into Formula 1. Even in a Bear market we see so many sh*tcoins on cars.

Yeah it is why Andretti wants in as he can see it being a money maker for him too. These are really good times to be part of F1 and the grid can easily accommodate 2 more teams but I do think they should be teams bringing in new manufacturer support.

Do we really need 4 more cars on the track? Should F1 be capped at 10, 12, 15 teams?

Meh, F1 isn't a racing series anyway. It's a constructors series. Maybe a few more teams will give us some more interesting racing to watch while RB/Ferrari/whomever wins with a 22 sec. interval.
