Cubs tied for the best record in the NL, on pace for 100 wins this season. Guessing no one saw that coming. Won't matter if they don't add starting pitching, however. Need a boost there in order to truly compete.

The eventual problem with them is that they aren't elite, but I have to watch and pay attn more. I'd take Doyer, Phil, Pads, Mets, and yankee over them come playoffs. Just in an ALds playoffs I might take cle(never count out the lineup and the pitching to shut **** down0, hou(2 aces and elite young guys in Pena and Paredes), sea(but they'll probably melt down with an insane roster), over them.

A day late, but the Braves blowing a 6 run lead in the 9th was certainly something.

Man did the Dbacks get absolutely ****ed on the burnes contract

He’s still opting out after next year and they will have gotten effectively nothing

I don't think he'll opt out unless it's to re-sign with Arizona. What type of deal will he get after the 2026 season if he's still not back from TJ? More than the 4\140 he'll have left? And he already left a lot of money on the table to come to Arizona once.

But yeah, we definitely got ****ed short term.

The greatest ever non-Ruth WAR season is that famous Red Sox lefty slugger. Not Ted Williams. Yaz the Man. In fact, Ballgame Teddy is way up the track in the single season WAR competition. All kinds of bums ahead of him. Crazy.

Spoiler:
Bums like Mays, Bonds, Mantle, Gehrig, Hornsby on the Range, Corn on the Cobb, Cal flippin' Ripken, Joe flippin' Morgan, Honus flippin' Wagner, Stan flippin' Musial, Aaron flippin' Judge, Mookie flippin' Betts.

Rickey probably had the greatest modern run scoring season. In 1985, first year with the Yankees, he was out most of April, when he came back hit .170 for the month, scoring 5 runs total. He ended up with 146 runs in 143 games played. He also slumped in Sept. after a torrid summer in which he hit about .370 for May/June/July. Sept. was .244 but he scored 39 runs that month anyway. Excellent player.

Judge and/or Ohtani might make a run at the near impossible 150.

Joe DiMaggio and Hack Wilson are tied for the most ribbies in a month, with 53 RBIs.

The Tigers are playing Playoff Caliber ball.

Seems rare to see that as early as June.

Signing pitchers to mega contracts in the 2020 era seems like the worst move you can possibly make unless they can hit 50 bombs and swipe 50 bags.

Rickey Henderson was the real 1985 AL MVP.

Mattingly should thank him for all those RBI that gave him the MVP.

At this point, Judge is literally having the best season ever.

Judge has a 1.265 OPS right now.

No one else is at 1.000 even. Ohtani is at .994.

Take the gap in OPS between Judge and 2nd place Ohtani, and subtract it from Ohtani. You get .723 which is basically league average.

Judge needs to be promoted to a higher league because he's lapping the field.

By what metric? Seems like a top 10 season, but not the best season ever.

Soto is 2nd in majors for hitting into double plays.

Something tells me that wouldn’t be the case if he were in a contract year…..

Judge has 6.0 fWAR through 68 team games. That's a 14.3 fWAR pace, more than Barry Bonds ever put up.

Judge is hitting for an absurd 245 wRC+. Barry Bonds' best ever wRC+ was 244 in 2002.

Judge is matching the offensive output of the best version of Barry Bonds while playing better defense and generally being more available. When Bonds was putting up his best offensive seasons he was several years older than current Judge (and thus worse defensively) and also missing a few more games each year.

Whatever version of WAR you want to use, Judge is having the best season since Babe Ruth in 1923, which is the highest WAR of all-time for a position player.

Sure, he probably won't keep this up, but at this point Judge has defied and broken every expectation set for him and has only gotten better since his supposed "career year" in 2022. He was better last year, and even better this year.

Super long delay in the answer, but in 1980 George Brett was hitting .400 after Game 134. That's the latest into a season that any player was hitting .400 since Ted Williams in 1941.

Verlander and Scherzer both started the year in rotations, neither has a win.

Kershaw suddenly has 2 wins.

The 3 aging hall of fame lock starting pitchers.
