Mahomes doesn't even get this treatment, he has bad games often enough it isn't that noteworthy. But Purdy shitting the bad - time to pop the champagne and set off some fireworks.
You know who else was like that? Tom Brady. So many similarities between them.
comparing purdy to brady and mahomes is some strong delusion.
purdy is a very good system QB with great accuracy. he is not someone who can take over a game or who anyone would fear more than brady or mahomes in a postseason 2 minute drill.
he is the beneficiary of having CMC, Aiyuk, Deebo, Kittle, and Shanahan, all of whom combine to generate next level separation -- like 2 standard deviations above the next best team. simply watching any SF game where he is "crushing" would show you this, metrics will as well. he consistently finds receivers flashing wide open without a defender within 3 yards. MVP!
compare to chiefs WRs who are generating bottom-5 separation levels and stratospheric drop rates (more than double league average, way beyond 2nd worst team)
people have repeatedly posted purdy's god-like EPA stats in this thread as proof that he is the second coming and deserving of mvp, without acknowledging that it's a worthless stat in isolation for QBs and jake browning was ranked 2nd in EPA heading into this week.
if MVP means "qb on the best team in football" then, sure, brock purdy being a -250 fave made some sense.
if it means best player (or adding most WAR) among good teams, then just lol if you have eyes.
