Curious if the kickoff fair catch rule change for the new season will have immediate impact on roster construction?

I've read some people think that sqib kicks will dramatically increase but there are obvious risks to doing that. Besides that, if we see more concussions or other injuries because of the change, the most likely outcome is for them to eliminate kickoffs for the 24 season. The rule change is for the upcoming season only but I highly doubt they'll go back to the old rules after that.

I mean.. all special teams coaches tried to block the change and they still said **** it haha. The NFL is so dumb. They're about to extend ROG to the 27 season too. He'll have made more cash than any player over his time there and that's sickening.

He's not more valuable than players. Being paid 50 mil a year is gross

I think most non-special teams coaches and players dislike it, too. If it was just special teams coaches, they obviously don't want for their job to become obsolete.

I'm far from being a Roger Goodell fan but it's pretty obvious why the owners like him. When he took office in 2006 the average NFL team was valued below $900mil. In 2022 it was almost $4.5bln and they're probably going >$5bln this year.

I'd be curious to see that markup compared to other scarce things rich people want - like mega-mansions, precious art, etc. Seems like all the high end stuff has gone up that much.

It sounds like I was partially wrong about this. It sounds like it is partially about KC trying to protect mahomes who isn't very confident in his abilities to play football and less about KC thinking he isn't good enough or at least a mix of both.

"I've always said I worry about legacy and winning rings more than making money at this moment," he said. "I'll never do anything that's going to hurt us from keeping the great players around me."

He didn't come right out and say "I'm not Aaron Godgers who can drag a terrible team to the playoffs" and "if I'm not surrounded by top 100 pass catchers I will be exposed as a fraud", but this is pretty close to that. I do like how humble he is though - I think that is an important trait in a QB.

You can't blame ownership as there was no sober and clear thinking person who thought the Jets didn't outright take advantage of the packers at the time of the trade. 0% shot of Godgers underperforming current expectations which are currently set at Godgers being a top 5-7 QB. He is clearly still the best QB in the game and he will elevate a team that was .400 last season.

with the amount of effort you've put into writing this script you may as well try to get it published
record a chat bot reading it in mcafee's voice and post to ytube

DHop released by the Cards. It’ll be interesting to see where he signs

There's 31 teams where he'd still qualify as a top100 pass catcher.

Ravens & Bills frontrunners? Don't think he wants to join a non-contender like the Patriots.

Mahomes frantically texting him right now in another damning admission of his own mediocrity.

Godgers glances at the notification on his phone then goes back to banging a showgirl

The Chiefs should really go all out to sign him imo

don't think NFL would allow jets if they didn't allow rodgers, OBJ, DHop to team up already

Not going to happen. Chiefs can free up money by extending Chris Jones but they're not breaking the bank for him.

Not sure if any other contender is willing to go "all out" either. He might have to decide between taking less money on a team that has Super Bowl aspirations and a team that is in desperate need for a WR like the Pats.

if he joined the Pats it would be mid July onwards, when it was clear that there was no other option. Pats is a terrible veteran FA destination now they're mediocre

I think whoever he signs with it happens sooner than later, inside of a week. Maybe 2.

this isnt like Cam Newton here where his options will be dry and he has to settle, he's gonna have 4-5 teams offer him something and then have to decide what he values

Signs with or verbally agrees to? One week might be relatively short for teams who have work to do to create cap space.

I think the only way he signs with NE is

A. He only cares about the money and they offer him the best deal

B. No other team is interested

Yeah but he's no longer a 'top 50 pass catcher', not even close.
No one is breaking the bank for this guy.
