The Yankees offense was miserably unwatchable outside of Judge last year, Soto is the single biggest upgrade they could have gotten.

Soto’s a decent power hitter but his main value comes from the fact that he has the best eye since bonds and will get on base a ton

That’s a great skillset. And an intelligent fan will recognize the level of value he provides. But with all due respect, an intelligent Yankee fan is outnumbered a thousand to 1

His style is gonna get crucified

We just had an atrocious AVG and OBP Soto will be appreciated just fine.

Oh I’m by no means saying the Yankees aren’t a decidedly better team with Soto than without, I’m just saying this is a fanbase and media that will fixate on what he costs with zero appreciation for the output cuz it’s not 50 homers and a .350 avg

Soto could go 0/2 with 2 walks for 10 straight games but by game 6 he’ll be booed into oblivion for each out

I doubt many people did.

FWIW, mlbtraderumors now says there are "conflicting reports" . But since all the early news came from around the Dodgers that might mean he's already told them he's not joining them so the Blue Jays sound like the logical answer based on the reported shortlist of Dodgers, Angels, Blue Jays?

just saw on the news that the jays met ohtani in florida this week, and that the rumour mill says they're one of the teams that he's considering, but nothing more than that. was he actually in toronto today or is that bs?

team is owned by a $56b+ megacorp, so might as well chuck a bunch of money at him

It's BS. There was a big deal made about a charter flight from OC to Toronto earlier and people thought it was Ohtani but it could have been any random rich dude.
