Yeah the running game blew, but it's not like anything other than counting stats between the two (aside from comp %) were particularly close. Tannehill's ANY/A, passer rating, DVOA blows Ben's away
Ben was basically told to get the ball out of his hands super fast to minimize his sack rate by throwing quick slants all game. And by the way, you have basically no running game. If he drives the ball down the field by completing 8/10 8 yard passes he has a NY/A of 6.4 for that drive.
The offensive scheme was based on having 1/3 offensive strategies - no running, very few passes over 20 yards - just short passes. It worked at first, but needed adjusting later - which it wasn't - hence the firing of the OC Fichner.
He was given pretty crappy circumstances to perform under and still went 12-3. So if you say the QB was terrible and the running game was terrible, the defense must have been easily the GOAT. It was good, but not that good.
