Allen had an amazing year but you've gotta put it up for a second to get in that top tier (See: Lamar from the year before)

I don't think averaging 280 yds/game while throwing 50 TDs & 15 INTs with fournette, gronk, evans, godwin, AB and an elite defense pushes anyone into a higher tier. Maybe I am overvaluing the talent around him.

Chiefs release Schwartz and Fisher because...y'know...their O line was so dominant in the Super Bowl without them

also, the Texans signed Mark Ingram for 1/3m to partner him with David Johnson, thus giving them one of 2016's best backfields. Shady McCoy is next!

Gonna ignore the extra 127 pass attempts?

At least it's just a 1-year deal

Yes, yes, the elite defense that finished 8th in the league in points allowed. The legendary Leonard Fournette! Gronk and AB! You forgot to mention future Hall of Famer Cameron Brate.

The revisionist history for folks sad about Brady winning yet another Super Bowl is amusing.

sure if we're going to ignore the fact that tannehill has the benefit of the #1 running game in the nfl.

6th most turnovers & 8th fewest pts allowed seems pretty legit. Their last 3 games were all against top 5 scoring offenses and those teams scored an average of 18 pts.

Brady got a 4 year extension to lower his cap hit by $19M this year.

We're not, but saying Ben had the same stats as Tannehill is obviously misleading if he threw an extra four games worth of pass attempts.

God I had to look that Brady one up - don't worry everyone the later years are voided and it's only an extra year.

ben had a better completion percentage(by 0.1), obviously for less yards per attempt, while opposing teams focused on him throwing almost 100%, versus tannehill who is an afterthought after having to gameplan and stack defenders for Henry.

Man if you think that’s elite, you’re gonna lose it when you learn Brady hung 30 on two better defenses - on the road! - in the playoffs.

Hyper elite or mega elite defenses? Hyper-mega?

The Herd is reporting that the Bears are going to offer a package for Russel Wilson that WON'T be declined, that CAN'T be declined.

Talking like FIVE first round picks here.

The Bears are SERIOUS about acquiring WIMSON!

Brady was more of a backpack in those two games than the leader of the team. He avg 200 yards while completing 63% of his passes (with all the weapons I mentioned earlier). TBs defense carried tom with 5 INTS, avg of 200 pass yds allowed and allowed a completion percent of 54% against two of the better QBs in the game (bress & pat).

lol TB could've hung 40+ easy in SB if they had to, game was over mid/late 3rd

Bringing Cam back is surprising though, BB must be eager to lock up 10 wins vs an easy schedule w/ no real desire to try and dip his feet into the trying to win a superbowl water as that has more volatility and could end badly for him

Needs to keep that 108-21 BB > Brady TZ consensus strong

OK, just so we're clear, in your mind the Bucs team that was 3rd in the league in points and hung 30+ points on offense in every game in the playoffs (often without trying in the 4th quarter, and 3 out of 4 on the road) was actually carried by the "elite" defense that was 8th in the league in points allowed. Got it.

I forgot - I know you from that thread where you didn't understand how tax rates work. Math ain't your strong suit.

Looks like the 14m # on cam was wrong and it is 5 w/ incentives, much better

seems unlikely they bring another vet in though

And the Steelers o-line allowed the lowest sack percentage since 09 and lowest pressure percentage this season. Though Ben threw it away pretty quick this year which helps too.

Yeah the running game blew, but it's not like anything other than counting stats between the two (aside from comp %) were particularly close. Tannehill's ANY/A, passer rating, DVOA blows Ben's away

Truly incredible to me that the Pats have resigned Newton.

He was dreadful last year.

Are there any restrictions on future pick trades like there are in the nba? like could Chicago offer Seattle their next 100 firsts for Wilson?

could only find this on reddit... According the the league office, trades conducted before the draft begins can include draft picks in 2015, 2016, and 2017. Once the draft starts (i.e., the moment the Commissioner declares the draft to be open and places the team with the first pick on the clock), trades can include picks from 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018

this would make trading 5 firsts for Wilson difficult

Ben was basically told to get the ball out of his hands super fast to minimize his sack rate by throwing quick slants all game. And by the way, you have basically no running game. If he drives the ball down the field by completing 8/10 8 yard passes he has a NY/A of 6.4 for that drive.

The offensive scheme was based on having 1/3 offensive strategies - no running, very few passes over 20 yards - just short passes. It worked at first, but needed adjusting later - which it wasn't - hence the firing of the OC Fichner.

He was given pretty crappy circumstances to perform under and still went 12-3. So if you say the QB was terrible and the running game was terrible, the defense must have been easily the GOAT. It was good, but not that good.

part of the reason they had no running game is he can't throw deep and the safeties just kept creeping on up.

and let's not get carried away with the W-L record. they played the NFC east. they beat:

NYG
DEN
HOU
PHI
CLE
TEN
BAL
DAL
CIN
JAX
BAL
IND

some good wins but a lot of layups
