this is a little shallow, but still useful imo.

over the last 20 years revenues at the top 10 clubs have grown 600% while the biggest 10 transfer fees have "only" grown 450%

The most annoying thing is Jose wanted this a year ago and was refused. I guess the reality is too obvious for even Woodward to ignore anymore but if we bought him last summer maybe the whole capitulation under Jose doesn't even happen.

And how much have wages grown?

It's not even about Lukaku really, but how people sometimes use goals and that's good enough and any deeper going stats are for NERDS, and sometimes it's more nuanced than that due to eye test.

I mean, look at Matt le Tissier: admittedly before my time, but dude scored a million goals from midfield and from what I've read, no one ever thought he could play for United or Arsenal. Not saying this Bruno Fernandes dude plays like le Tissier but it's not as easy as goals = great player, though obviously there's a strong correlation.

Well looks like my gut feeling over the Dybala transfer was way off, must have been the 10 pints and that kebab I had Saturday night. **** knows who will get now.

Lotta good young attackers probably not well known talents coming into the league. Particularly keen on kean (EHEHEHEHEHE), haller, trossard, and pepe to have good years as all should feature prominently in their teams respective attacks (cutrone maybe to a lesser extent). All have great underlying numbers from their previous leagues.

Also seeing that newcastle just signed allan saint maximin who has impressed the times i watched him.

As suspected, it's more.

Burnley preparing for Tarkowski's move to Leicester by bidding for Dael Fry from Boro.

Gotta chuckle at the front on Bournemouth, quoting Leicester £75m for Ake.

I would really love to get another center-back before the window closes, because Mustafi/Chambers starting too many games will just **** us in the longrun.

Btw I think Arsenal has the biggest gap in terms of talent between attack and defense in the EPL? Maybe Villa from the newcomers?
Apparently we’ve put in a bid for Upamecano from Leipzig. They want close to €80m, but if Raul manages to finesse another long term payment plan, this is the dream summer of all dream summers.

Everyone seemed to be down on Rugani (sounds like Juve have declined our loan offer anyway), but not sure why.

Really like AMN as well. Yeah, he’s got errors in him defensively, but I think as he matures it will come in handy having someone who is calm at the back instead of constantly ****ting themselves for a change.

When 8bus mortally hates Cancelo in a month, we can just remind him that at least it meant getting rid of Danilo.

Eye test said Le Tissier was a footballing god but looked like a pie eating man down pub, which he was. Even in the 90's the top sides generally were moving towards greater professionalism and he didn't fit the mould. In the 80's he'd have played for Liverpool and won European cups.

Danilo was a weird one. I don’t know that he was bad but just a weird fit and didn’t do a whole lot. Getting rid of him and nabbing cancelo for 30m seems sick.

Would love to see a similar deal sending zinchenko to Ukraine

In the 80s he would’ve been beaten to the buffet at Anfield by Jan Molby.

Hasn't Zinchenko got that incredible stat that he's won every single game he's played in? (Or started, can't remember, was something like 20/20?)

If we got Upamecano I'd have to learn if I put the vowels in the right order but our defense would be really good next year.

Raul and co have done a great job, mood on social media is so much different than the start of the summer. All the good will will likely be lost at Newcastle, but it's a start

If we actually get Upamecano and Tierney, we would be set defensively (if Upamecano, Saliba, Holding keep improving) for the next decade.
Our midfield is also very young and looking interesting. If Ceballos has a good season and decides that his chance to play at Madrid is limited, who knows, we might be able to lure him to stay.
Our strikers are obviously no issue.
Could be a fun season! I said the same last summer though.

Reports saying we have sold both Kos and Jenkinson. Very good news if true.

Just had a look and he is only 20, Tierney is only 22 as well. Without jumping into too many conclusions I would be delighted to have a really young and promising defense in the coming years. This rebuild already went a lot better than expected.

Those sorts of things can happen when you've got a decent team in comparison to the level, there was a stupid stat where we were about 25 unbeaten when Jake Wright (reserve CB) started
