I don't think nearly as much stuff gets made up as people think except for ****ty blogs. For professional journalists, it's just not worth it because if you do it, no one at a club will ever talk to you again. Obv there's agents feeding stuff though.

Indeed. I also don't believe these "always wanted to play for my favourite club". That only works if that club is City, Barca, Real, Bayern or United. Everyone will gravitate towards those clubs if possible.

Kinda absurd that you include DDG and not Pogba. I mean, Pogna is likely gone this summer, but it’s also not like United won’t buy at least 1 and possibly 2 replacements. United will almost certainly stump for a big money CB as well.

I thought Pogba was gone as well but I don't think anyone is paying what we want. We might suck at getting good fees normally but he's one of the most marketable players itw and that's something EdWood appreciates way more than footballing ability.
