Bell is now rich & doesn't have to be Ben's child or what have you.

Who cares if the Ev is slightly negative & he could have made a few million dollars more doing something else?

Did he even have an issue with Ben? Seems like he just wanted to get paid.

Plus it seemed clear that the Steelers were happy to run him into the ground, regardless of the consequences to his long term health. It's not a surprise why he wanted out of that situation when they wouldn't commit to him long term.

Given the Steelers seem toxic to any skill position players (other than Ben), will be interesting to see whether Ju-Ju extends this offseason, or looks to be the next star to leave.

Chris Johnson wasn't a high pick in the draft especially pre-rookie cap (which is why Bush is up there). He was only on the Titans 3 years after his deal. His rookie deal was 5 years 12M and 7 guaranteed. His second deal was 53/4 with 30M guaranteed. The big thing to note is most RBs never hit their contract $ amount especially on their second deal. CJ was just getting essentially 3 million a year his next few short deals.

Reggie Bush got 6 year 62M, 26.5 guaranteed as a ROOKIE. Lol at those old deals. Can't imagine taking a RB that high at that time. Seems like end rushers and QBs and maybe LTs should have been the only players taken in the top 10 with those deals. Maybe a top flight WR prospect too.

He had an issue with the organization who put that structure in place I'm sure.

His only ask was more guaranteed money, they gave him a 5 year deal but obviously not guaranteed. The one thing the Steelers and most teams don’t give is ridiculous fully guaranteed money.

The difference between NFL & other leagues is that more years on the contract are good for players in other leagues, but bad for players in the NFL.

In other Bears doing Bears things news that came at either the same time as OBJ or Bell yesterday, they gave CPat 2/$10m.

Seems like Barnwell is completely ignoring the fact that Bell could just get hurt/regress in 2018 and he would've gotten cut then been 2016 Matt Forte on the market.

That Barnwell article on Gettleman is jaw dropping. What a ****ing idiot. How is that guy in charge of anything.

I like what Buffalo as done. Upgrades to WRs and their offensive line.

what are the chances he has a career ending injury? there is insurance for that anyway

2016 matt forte was 31 years old

He could just continue his regression that he showed in 2017 and then Pitt cuts him. Then he's just another RB on the market though. What's that worth 6-7m a year? Tough to say but just regression to the pack tends to come in year 7 for elite RB's at the latest.

I missed that adam gase is the coach of the jets. frank gore is already off the market but maybe he can bring in legarrette blount and give him 100 touches

maybe if he completely bombed but find it hard to believe his numbers would be much worse than the conner/samuels combo. it's all scheme. even if he did decline mckinnon got 4/30M as a mediocre backup, there are always teams like the jets willing to give big money for minimal future production

Your right, now he gets to be on a 6-10 jets team that gets owned by the patriots every year

Fair enough but injury prone year where he plays like 11-12 games is a major blow to his value even if effective. And would be a scenario that probably has a decent % chance to happen.

Especially in conjunction with Gurley/DJ deal already looking kinda w/e

One of bell’s main reasons he didn’t accept the Steelers initial offer of 5/70 is because he wanted ( and maybe rightfully so) top WR type money. He didn’t get that with this contract.

he also said he wouldn't play for the jets for less than 100M in 2017, guess how that went...lols.

at least they've got barkley to keep fantasy players interested in if he's going to get that matchup saving TD while they are down 28-3
