that kicker is supposed to be solid and the ravens are good at kickering (Lutz is another guy through the balt kickering system)

the vikings have drafted blair walsh and carlson in recent memory.

The Bears/Jets at the minimum also have jack **** for kicker atm so ravens were gonna get something even though they would've had to cut him eventually.

The Vikings used a fifth on carlson, he was gone in five months. Blair was a 6th and well you know what happened.

While Tom Brady has complained as well but that's totally understandable and Tom has a good point.
I've been on the AB bandwagon for a long time (in terms of him being an amazing WR & deserving the $ he's asked for), but I'm a little worried about him right now. Since the start of the year he has (1) been accused of domestic violence, (2) thrown JuJu under the bus for a playoff loss on Twitter, (3) went into a cryotherapy chamber without proper footwear, and (4) is threatening to quit football if he has to wear one of the new helmets.

AB is as good as he is self-absorbed and mental. That’s a tough package to manage.

Don’t follow the Steelers very close but he was putting up HOF numbers every year without me hearing what a nutbag he was, what changed or was I just not paying close enough attention?

There are all sorts of methods for scanning a brain but they keep saying CTE can only be diagnosed through an autopsy.

You’d think there might be a way to see that it has shrunk to 2/3rds normal size without sending it to the shop.

AB has received coverage of varying degrees of newsworthyness in his career. Here's a list of some things someone compiled on reddit.

The important ones:

Quote:
  1. He threatened to beat up a reporter after an unflattering article. "Wait until I see u bro we gonna see what your jaw like"
  2. Threw furniture off of a 14th story balcony and almost killed a toddler
  3. Clocked over 100mph on McKnight Road, 55mph over the posted speed limit. He then told police that he was late for a team meeting.
The team related ones:

Quote:
  1. Facebook live streaming a locker room only speech given by Tomlin
  2. Tosses cooler on the sideline against the Ravens because Ben didn't target him
  3. In response to a critical tweet saying that Ben was the person responsible for AB's success, AB tweeted back "Trade Me, Find Out."
  4. After a loss to the Chiefs, Brown didn't show up for monday meetings. He said he was “pissed off” because “we suck.”
  5. Skipped team practice before a pivotal Week 17 game against the Bengals. Showed up to the game, told he wasn't going to play, and left at halftime.
  6. Got upset that JuJu was named 2018 Steelers MVP posting on instagram "boy fumbled the whole post season in the biggest game of the year"
  7. Threatens to retire because the NFL won't allow him to wear his favorite helmet
The weird ones:

Quote:
  1. Says in interview his name is "Ronald Ocean" and explanation is "top secret."
  2. Appeared over four hours late to an event at Children’s Hospital without any explanation as to why he was so late
  3. Makes a joke in a GQ article about cheating on his girlfriend and mother of children, saying “it’s kind of hard to keep it in my pants.”
  4. Names himself Mr. Big Chest during a post workout instagram live video
  5. feet frostbite because he didn't wear proper footwear in a France Cryochamber
The interesting part of all this is that EVERY single one of these things happened after Burfict almost murdered him.

So when people say "CTE" it's not an unreasonable conclusion. He - by all accounts that I could find - was a pretty normalish dude before then. It doesn't mean CTE IS the correct conclusion of course. It's just a leading theory when you look at the timeline.

Thanks, I had no idea. The only response is LOL Raiders.

As to CTE, I’m not questioning whether he has it or not, I was just commenting on what you hear almost every time it’s discussed, that it can’t be diagnosed while the patient is alive. Those two photos would lead me to believe they’d at least have a hint.

There were more things in that list that I axed because they seemed small and irrelevant (things like being mad on the sideline). I just missed that one. Was just trying to group it up together to answer the "has he always been in the news or was this recent" question.

Carlson then went to the Raiders and was 16/17 FGM and 100% EPs in 10 games.

Maybe it's a Viking problem, although Walsh hasn't exactly been great since leaving the Vikes.

Do indoor teams have their kickers regularly practice outdoors when the weather turns cold?

Here's a question - since Mo Claiborne is suspended - the Chiefs have to keep him on the 53-man for one day, then move him to the suspended list and hope whomever we cut to make room for him didn't get signed somewhere else.

Would the Chiefs have to do the same thing with PP? And if so - is there some benefit to waiting until later in the season to make a trade with the Cardinals - before his suspension is up?

Texans' twitter apparently running around in circles saying Clowney is getting moved, likely to the Dolphins. No one worth believing has cosigned on it yet, but if they don't get a decent OLineman out of any Clowney deal...woof.

Saw this on Pokes’ board:

$40M is code for “go ahead and franchise me, twice.”

Might not be a bad route to go for Dak, honestly. He’ll lock in a big payday, collect the franchise tag dollars, and participate in the new QB market after the CBA and Mahomes’ new deal potentially resets the market.

Well trading with Miami would certainly ensure that they wouldn’t

I like how sports punditry has apparently never even fathomed the "ask for more than you expect to get" negotiation strategy.

Then when Dak settles for $33M - woah who saw that coming??!?

I'm watching the Browns preseason game repeat on NFLN. About 10 minutes before the game the announcers said the Browns would be in 2 minute mode for the first drive.

Then when the two minute mode succeeded - the announcers keep going on about how it must have taken Jay Gruden by surprise. Um, do they not have anyone watching the game who could phone down to the sidelines?
