Top 8 ec won 56% of their games against the West last season.
Going forward embiid, Simmons, Tatum, kyrie, Giannis, Gordon, dips likely have all nba equity the next few seasons. Giannis has first team equity and likely embiid will eventually as well since center isn’t the deepest position (matters what you think AD is).
Last year was a weak year for the EC especially the playoffs due to injuries. I don’t think you could make the same argument that the 3rd or 4th best team in the West is going to bear every team in the east the last 4 years especially if everyone is healthy. Cavs with healthy kyrie and love were a pretty sick team and better than most non KD warriors teams.
Cavs win what 20 games next season? They should try to, they owe atl their picks protected the next two seasons outside the top 10 and then totally in 3 years. Or maybe they should try to pay it off this year and then goto the total suck.
I’m totally fine with removing the conferences especially for the playoffs. Warriors still going to win it most of the time.

If you honestly think the East>West I don't know what to say.
All the good players are out West.
NO would have beaten every team in the East last year.
GSW and Houston not only beat every team in the East, they sweep them.
If you take injury out of the equation SA (with Leonard) beat every team other than Boston.
I actually think OKC and Utah beat pretty much every team. Even Minny beat every team outside the Top 4 in the East.
It's heavily weighted to the West.
Crazy to think otherwise.
I don't even know what to say about the 56% thing. Of course playoff teams will have a winning record against a whole conference (that includes 6? tanking teams).
