Here is an interesting look at how 2p2 has come to understand the modern game. Blake Griffin was 28 years old last season, so he should be at or near his prime right now. Take a look at his draft slot in 2p2 drafts:

June 2018: #48
link

July 2017: #24
link

March 2017: #22
link

March 2016: #15
link

July 2015: #11
link

January 2015: #8
link

The July 2017 one was a single season draft in which real life salaries mattered. Every other draft was either a 3 or 5 year dynasty.

Also lololololololol@ Lebron James' placement in these drafts...

#6
#6
#6
#7
#3
#2

Nobody took LEBRON ****ING JAMES #1 overall in any of them????!!!! 28 year old Russell Westbrook was taken over 32 year old Lebron James! The 2015 draft was only a 3 year dynasty and Lebron was only 30 and he didn't go #1!

I stand behind my comment and think 2p2 continues to underrate Lebron James in these drafts:

thanks for the links. at some point someone should make a sticky of all SE drafts. pretty entertaining to see the results a few years later. i can't believe Joakim Noah was going 21st in 2015 (not gonna bother with undrafted)

and you can see that people didn't really take Lebron 1 like they (results wise) should have. tho a lot of the other olds have really fallen off.

not sure flake's the best example of a non-modern player. 35% on 5 attempts, can handle, and pass. like i said, his floor is neck tat

haven't made a write up on my team, but PG 8 3pt attempts a game + Dame 8 3 pt attempts per game + Smaht/Gasol/Flake 4 each would be 28 just from the starters, and if you fill out a reasonable roster, it would probably be top 5 in attempts for 2017-2018 real NBA. it's live to be interesting. i think jingles over blake was the move tho

Give me the number one pick and I would have done it. Also amazing that most of the lebron teams are awful.

Brow Team, Katie team, Kawhi team, Harden team drafted close to the nuts.

Giannis team i'd go Jamal Murray, Kuz or something

Lebron team i'd prolly just snipe Jumanji's team

Curry team I'd prolly snipe AeJones's team but Adams > Cp3

Yea your team is fine, I only used Blake because he makes for a good example of a big who doesn't space the floor with 3s(he can make some but the D doesn't really respect him) nor does he protect the rim. Ingles was def the pick imo, but at #48 Blake is reasonable value, and as you said you have shooting elsewhere. I would put the o/u at like 52 next draft for Blake's slot.

good shot. Boogie/Conley/CJ/Porter/Avery Bradley/Embiid team prolly has more talent, but you have fewer redundancies

are trades allowed? I'd be interested in moving John Wall for depth....looking over rosters, not many teams could use him really. Maybe the AD team? Something like Eric Gordon, Roberson, 5th rounder for Wall, 7th rounder, 8th rounder? Your team would not have any depth, but AD/Wall/Tobias is super sick in terms of age and skillset fit.

No worries if trades aren't allowed, I never saw it mentioned one way or the other.

i think we've been drafting with the understanding it's not allowed as people have been generally been pricing in aging curve and basketball fit

ok sure, no prob.

Curious as to people's thoughts on that hypothetical trade offer. Feels like it might be good for both teams. The Wall/AD pairing seems sick.

I’d prolly want the 5th rounder without giving back the 7th and 8th. Wall/brow combo so sick and the trade is better for him. Roberson injury return risk and EG is gonna be 30.

Caris LeVert

Team:
Donovan Mitchell
Caris LeVert
Gordon Hayward
Aaron Gordon
Jarrett Allen

I think I can run these 5 out there together no problem, even without an actual point guard.

LeVert averaged 5.8 assists per 36, Mitchell averaged 4.0, Hayward has a career high of 5.1 & averaged 3.6 in his last season, & even Aaron Gordon averaged 2.6.

I expect all 5 guys to be at least capable 3 point shooters once Allen adds that to his game (hit 33% last year on limited attempts). LeVert improved from 32% to 35% last year on 3.5 attempts, & it would not be at all surprising to see his %s continue to improve. AGo improved from 29% to 34% on 5.9 attempts. DMitch hit 34% on 7 attempts, & in his last full season Hayward hit 40% on 5.1 attempts.

With continued shooting improvement from the 4 young guys, there won't be anyone you can leave alone, which will be particularly dangerous because we have 3 excellent PnR ballhandlers & 2 excellent PnR bigs. The # of different angles & looks that this group of guys can create will be very difficult to counter, & the different possible permutations will keep the defense guessing & off-balance.

Defensively, these guys have wingspans of 6'8 (Hayward), 6'10, 6'10, 7'0 & 7'6, & should be very switchable across the board. Allen is the anchor, averaging 2.2 blocks per 36 as a 19 y/o rookie, but all 5 guys are athletic & can get into passing lanes.

It's all kind of unconventional, but I think it works, & gives me flexibility for the rest of the draft.

With our 5th round pick, we're taking Buddy Hield.

He'll be entering his age 25 season, and while only playing 25mpg for the lowly Kings, was able to put up 5+ 3pa/game at a 43% clip. With a better PG distributor, and with given the opportunity, we believe Hield can mature not only into a starting SG, but someone who can put up 8+ 3pa/game.

Our starting 5:
RWB
Hield
Aminu
JJJ
Gobert

Hield is the floor stretcher we sorely needed (while Aminu shoots the 3 well enough and JJJ can extend out, Hield will be the player that requires the defense to stick to). Additionally, his OnOff numbers were great, if not noisy, last year.
