We've signed some kid I've never heard of from City on a free who was at Oldham last year, not sure what to make of them insisting on a buy back clause, maybe it's standard for them

0% Is correct, at least City forum is not not droolling over scrubs so there's that. Verratti loves it here, he might use Madrid, Barça, City to renegociate his contract every year (and 100% right to do so since he crushes hard) but he's 100% staying.

that number was widely reported by numerous sources
like when i googled Meyer earlier they literally all said record wage earner @ £170k pw

i did not realize that outlets over there make up / report that sort of thing without verifying

lesson learned i guess

i believe the base salary is 80k/week and after all the potential bonus' can be up to 170k/week. idk if the signing bonus is included in that figure which was apparently 7-10m.

He turned down 100k pw from us. The 0 goals, 0 assist stat isn't all that telling because he played defensive midfield and is legitimately good there. Though if Palace don't have as much possession as we did (even though we didn't want it), maybe his passing quality won't shine as much and his tackling weakness will be more pronounced.

The £170k figure is likely accurate - lots of clubs were interested in him so would have been aware of his demands, and it's pretty easy for this information to filter to the better informed journalists.

Looks like we're close to signing Ben Gibson from Boro. I believe he had a poor season in the Championship for them last season, but he was one of their best players in the PL the year before and called up to the England squad so I'd be pretty happy with this one.
