A sprinting Kroos could have stopped Lozano from shooting after dribbling past Özil, which should delay the attack enough to involve other people in defending if they actually bothered to be back in time to defend.
That's a lot on Hummels though, among others like Kroos who's a liability defensively like you said.

I make that mistake a lot in the Sunday league or wherever, totally lose position trying to intercept a pass like that. Good players will also fake you out sometimes if they sense the defender does what Hummels did there and you're hopelessly running after your opponents all of the sudden. To be as slow as Hummels doesn't help in this spot either.

Imagine what Ramos (or let's say Naldo lol) would've done there. Most likely block Chicharito (?) or foul him after the pass to prevent the one-two. Even if you don't want or manage to do that you can track back in a somewhat proper defensive shape and Boateng likely takes care of Lozano, with Özil and Kroos providing a much more effective cover.

Fun fact: Korea’s anthem used to be set to the tune of Auld Lang Syne

Watching from another angle, I don't even know what Hummels was thinking there to begin with lol. But it doesn't excuse how open Lozano's side is, I'll give him that (he criticised his team mates after the match). Yeah, it really is ridiculous how Kimmich joggs backwards, I agree.

Yeah of course it's a pretty bad mistake from Hummels, he's just way too far away from Chicharito to go for that play.

Helpful pronunciation tips re: Korean vowels.

“eu” is nothing like “eww” or “eeooo” but rather like the sound you make when starting to pronounce “ngolo kante” that “ng” is actually an informal way to say “yes” in Korean.

“eo” is more like the “u” vowel in “underwear” than anything an English announcer will say.

I've seen clips of Son being interviewed by German media. They pronounce his first name 'Hoing-Min', same vowel sound as in 'Noier'.

Yeah that's what it sounds like when pronounced like you would a German word. That's pretty common though- I doubt lots of Korean or English speakers get Swedish names like Berg right (I only know how to pronounce it after watching a hockey highlight clip involving Henrik Zetterberg with Swedish commentary).

I'm not sure if this is true for all Swedish names ending in berg, but in the case of Zetterberg it's something like bari or barji IIRC

My sister for a pool had to predict exact scores for every group game. I told her 1-0, 1-1, 0-0 for everything. 2-0 only in extreme examples( Belgium-Panama for instance.

Ah right, they have this weird i/j ending.

I once asked a Dane how Højbjerg is pronounced (when I still had hopes for the kid to turn into something better than some Premier LÖL midtable also ran).

And it's "Hoiber" apparently.
