I've never hunted and don't plan to, and it holds no appeal to me, but I have a hard time criticizing people who kill animals for entertainment when I kill animals for the enjoyment of eating them or wearing them on my feet. Plus, like what if they eat what they kill too? Then it seems all around much better than what I already do.

At the end of the day you're just trading the animals' lives for your own utility gains, and I think it's pretty hypocritical to say that one form of utility is better or worse than the other. Especially when hunting is heavily regulated and still allows the animals to live their lives in the wild, while many animals that are killed for food get raised in horrific conditions. Also, I don't have a good sense of lives traded for utility gained either - like how many burgers can come from one cow, versus how much enjoyment comes from killing one deer? Or how many shoes from one calf? It's possible the balance is heavily tilted in one direction or the other, but I don't really know

Probably doesn't have the degree of difficulty that you imagine. I hunted a fair amount when I was a kid, and even then I was amazed at how many people would grab a shotgun or rifle by the end of the barrel with their finger or thumb over it and set the stock on the ground.

I have no idea how this guy managed it but that would be my guess.

There are countless ways people can mangle/kill themselves with guns.

Yeah climbing over fences with a gun can get interesting.

I grew up hunting quail and pheasant with my stepdad. He felt like the birds at least had a fighting chance vs. shooting a stationary animal. Not my thing as an adult but it did give me my love of the outdoors. I don't really have an issue with anyone who wants to hunt birds. Or even or deer since we ran off all their other predators. We also ate everything he and my uncle shot.

But this ****, I will never get in a million years.



This is a canned hunt where the animal is tracked by armed guides, and this fatass is literally in no danger at any time. Moreover the animal may even be used to people. The guides tell him where to sit and all he does is basically pull the trigger while the hapless animal may even be sleeping. All of this just for the *thrill* of ending the life of a majestic animal.

To me it's like paying a lot of money to destroy a Picasso or something. I don't get it.

And don't give me that bull**** about how it helps save the animals. You know 99% of that money is just going to a) corrupt govt officials and b) the landowners who run the game preserve.

I feel the actual killing part makes it weird.

Obviously I eat meat and wear clothes made from dead animals.

But I'm in the minority so I guess I'm weird.

Set for a good while. Obv anyone who kills and doesnt do anytbing with it has issues. Anyone who hunts animals like lions, elephants, whatever other exotic animals has severe mental problems.
