Burrell not getting in is pretty unfair, especially since he has never been an all-star. How about Cole Hamels not getting in while Aaron Cook has a spot. Is Clint Hurdle serious? Pretty unfair that a ******ed manager like that has so much power in choosing who is on the team. I understand there is going to be a little bit of favortism, but this is a joke.

Edit: Just want to make sure, but does Hurdle get to choose? I just read somewhere the players vote in the rest of the roster.

Just wait until Hurdle starts Cook. lolz

I also wouldn't be surprised if he starts Holliday as the DH

a) Name another Washington player that should go.

b) Last time I checked, Yankee Stadium was not where the Mets played their home games.

I'm surprised the Joe Crede pick isn't getting more flak. While he's having a decent year, he totally inflated his numbers by completely destroying the Twins for like four games this year. Take those games out and he only has something like 8 HRs and I'm sure his slugging percentage takes a big hit. He's a good player, but Longoria is much more deserving imo.

Also I don't mind Guzman going since the Nats need a representative. But for the love of God, why is Miguel Tejada at the all-star game over Reyes? It's great how the media won't let Barry Bonds back into baseball, but embraces a guy who was also on the Mitchell report and lied about his age.

We can even trade Mets and Nationals if you like
Put rauch in instead of Wagner and give us reyes instead of guzman
makes a lot more sense

Point b is irrelevant. It would be nice to see more mets playing there, since the game is in New York and there should be as many Mets fans there as Yankee fans since it's not like Yankee season ticket holders got preference, unless I am mistaken. Thats all i was saying. Even though i hate the skankees, i wouldnt mind giambi winning the fan vote because i think it would be good for the game.

the fact that Crede was supposed to lose his job to Josh Fields in spring training, they the sox tried desperately to trade him, that they forced fields to go to the minors because nobody would take crede, and the fact that crede responded by putting up such a solid first half makes him an excellent all star candidate, and I support it 100%

cbs projected 3 mets on it
Wagner, Santana and Wright

Santana would be on it if the Mets ever hit when he pitched

Since when does not being one of the top two on your team mean you aren't one of the top 12 or whatever in the league? Saunders is clearly deserving.

I don't get how they can force the game to be worth something then keep the one player from each team rule.

And I like Crede and all, but he is hitting .260.

And Kazmir over Shields every day of the week, recent minor struggles or not.

I decided to do the math because I was curious... it's actually pretty interesting stuff.

Crede vs. the Twins (11 games): .400/.429/1.050 with 7 HRs.
Crede vs. everyone else (69 games): .237/.326/.406 with 8 HRs.

So basically Crede is a decent player who happened to randomly destroy the Twins in a few games this year. He hasn't been a consistent performer, and he should not be an all-star. It's pretty incredible how a short hot streak can really inflate a player's overall stat-line. I'm not sure how much it matters, just thought it was interesting.

Also, I might just be bitter as a Twins fan.

EDIT: By the way, has anyone noticed that Crede has like the weirdest l/r splits from a right handed hitter ever?

"Internet voting this week will determine the 32nd player on each team."

I don't completey understand the process so each will choose one more off the intrawebs?

"The AL candidates for the last spot in Internet voting: outfielders Jermaine Dye and Jose Guillen, first baseman Jason Giambi, second baseman Brian Roberts and third baseman Evan Longoria.

The NL candidates: outfielders Pat Burrell, Corey Hart, Carlos Lee and Aaron Rowand and third baseman David Wright."

the ballot is determined by the opening day starters. so you can blame them for making the ballot so far in advance

Why don't you take out every other players 11 best games and see how their stats look too? This is such a stupid way to argue against a guy making the ASG.

with most ppl who vote on based on what they see or a str8 blind ballot for thier favorite team. I think most ppl only look at the 11 games or whatever it is angtist thier favorite team. this is why the ASg shouldn't decide home Felid in The Ws. The fans should still be allowed to vote. Im shocked Giffery popularity and his 6ooth hr didnt get him in. i cant rember the last time he wasnt voted in by the fans.

It's a sham Lincecum isn't starting. Clearly the most dominant pitcher in the NL. You would think with the Giants wanting to clean up their image a bit they would encourage Hurdle to start him. Instead, they are 5 games back so they bumped up Timmy's start to get 2 more in before the AS break.

If the winner of the all-star game gets home field in the World Series, then the players should have the vote of who plays on the teams and not the fans cause the fans are going to only vote for there favorite teams players and not players that actually deserves it.

Then they are bad fans...?

/edit plus "deserves it" means different things to different people and doesn't necessarily translate into putting the best team on the field.

home field in the World series decided on this is absurd. Selig Worst Decsion, yes worse the Asg that was a tie. its the fans game the fans should vote. we shold even get to vote on the pitchers. I would also like to see no Asg have a DH.
