And in the longshot category: Terelle Pryor is going to officially visit LSU in a few days. We are his last school. I just hope he likes crawfish and jambalaya. There is a lot of speculation that he and Patrick Johnson are tight, and this is helping our cause.
Everything I can find on Pryor says tOSU

he is graduating in March...tOSU is on the trimester or quarter thing which allows him to enter there

he wants to play bball--he is #28 nationally on rivals last I checked--tOSU gives him two top programs

but, he's pretty tight-lipped
seems like he is enjoying the attention

I'm ready for Phil to go, too, but not because of this. Every school has these kinds of problems.

I actually disbelieved the rumors that UM flagged his score, but now it seems to be common knowledge.
1st of all, I'd never be sour about a kid that didn't want to come to UF & I apologize if it came off that way. I was a bit uninformed. YES, he does have the test score, but had such a drastic improvement that UF thought it should be flagged, not Urban Meyer. We had a recruit flagged institutionally last season who couldn't EE so I know how it works. I think it's just silly for him to be blaming UF for doing their job.

Too bad Urban is under investigation for violations during the recruitment of Carl Moore. Between this, his recruitment of Omar Hunter while he was committed to ND and the incident with Darryl Stonum, he hasn't exactly come off as squeaky-clean during this cycle.

Some articles out have said that he is cleared. If not, it's not much more than schools self report every year. At least we're on top of it. I know Jamie McCloskey personally & he's basically the best compliance guy you can have.

I'm sure it's nothing major, and I'm sure Urban doesn't mess around with paying players/etc. He seems to have pushed the ethical envelope a few times this year, but has not broken any rules.

Whatever becomes of this whole Moore thing, he's brought in two very very good recruiting classes in a row

Florida, UGA and LSU are all having great recruiting years. Those teams seem to be at the top of the SEC, and it's very likely to stay that way for a few years to come.

I was just kidding around. I've stated before the rankings don't mean much, a lot of teams aren't filling their needs & have top 15 classes. A 5* QB can make your class great. UFs class is even more impressive because of a kicker & FB bringing down our ratings.

OT, but you guys rock so I'll share the news:

I just got my acceptance letter to the University of Florida for my Masters in Sport Management. If you didn't know, I'm in my final semester(internship), finishing up my undergraduate in the same.

I'm stoked, but best of all 2 more years of Gator student football & basketball tickets...weeeeeee! 2 more years of part time poker playing...nooooooooo!

totally worth it... I had some awesome Illinois tickets over my 8 years there or whatever

definitely worth it

I was #1 in the students priority points one season....which was sweet... nothing like sitting just behind the bench for a final four team

This is really cool.

FWIW one of my best friends here is a 3rd year Sports Management major who has just started taking masters-level classes.

congrats

TFG- What are you going to be when you grow up?

Also, Auburn just got a commit named Freddie Smooth, all-name team.

Well, Patrick Johnson took his ACT again, made his score... again. The only problem: this delay has prevented him from enrolling early. He missed the late registration deadline so he cannot attend spring practices. Urban Meyer is not a popular guy in Baton Rouge right now. Recruiting can be somewhat shady, but it's a shame when these kinds of shenanigans start interfering in kids' lives to this extent.

In other LSU recruiting news:

It's looking more and more like DeAndre Brown will not make his grades, so he might end up at Southern Mississippi instead of LSU, since they have less stringent academic requirements. Either that or one of Mississippi's good JUCO teams (likely MS Gulf Coast CC in Gautier, just a short drive from his native Ocean Springs).

Corey Liguet, 4* DT and a soft commit to Illinois, might be headed to Baton Rouge instead. Sorry MT2R.

yeah... Liuget is up in the air

he's always been listed soft verbal

his parents want him to go out-of-state

Miami has tried to change that over and over

his body grew from DE to DT, so his emphasis changed

I'd love to have him, but the Illini are good at d-tackle for the next few years even without him

what I've heard is he visited LSU and USF just for the attention and fun of going
he really likes Miami, his parents like Illinois

The ultimate goal is a College Athletic Director, but I might head in to coaching depending on how things go. I hope to Grad asst. for football or basketball next season here. Possibly work in Gator Boosters or another position in the UAA if not. You really have to pay your dues & build a sick resume in the sport industry.

I am also hoping to go to Law school when I'm done just because I want to look the best I can be. If I'm not happy with the college setting I can turn towards a sport/entertainment law firm or join the ever growing sport marketing arena. I DO NOT want to be a pure sports agent as I would probably kill myself but I would enjoy working with athletes to a certain extent. I'd do Sport Law, Entertainment, or Contract depending on where I get in.

Hopefully one day you will see me as an assistant AD or AD of a big school. Who knows, I might end up at Auburn one day Beggars can't be choosers in the SM world.

lol, Bama would be an amazing position. It'll probably take me 20 years+ to get there though, although the trend has been younger ADs. You end up being an assistant for a good while which is still a very influential position. A big school will have 10-20 assistants & some are pretty important. We actually have a unique position who is in charge of all women's athletics so the pay is really good & it's a good stepping stone. I know her very well, so it's a good connection for me.

I'm especially interested in compliance & know our compliance guy here. He's in the news right now because of the Urban Meyer stuff.

Gators are losing Chaz Sutton to South Carolina due to grades. He is not getting a LOI from the Gators because he likely will not qualify at UF. Since we're not trying to take too many kids this season anyway, we're not going to risk it on a non-qualifier.

We've temporary lost #1 on Rivals.
