The Jets couldn't stop Westbrook even if he was at 80%. Hell, Westbrook at 80% is still better than half the starting backs in the league.

While everyone continues to look ahead, imo theres a few big problems with everyones speculation:

1. all the great free agents people are discussing will be hard to get yes, but more importantly Mangini has cited that he wants to build the team through the draft, and will not splurge in free agency.

2. Clemens vs. Pennington: I've been pro pennington but the way things are going i would like to see clemens at some point soon. However, the more i think about it, the way Mangini has talked about chad last year and this year makes me feel like he will be the starter for most of the rest of the season, until the jets are pretty much eliminated from playoff contention.

3. What the hell is going on with the rest of the offense? What happened to last year when the offense was so unpredictable and innovative? Take away the Miami game and the Jets have 51 offensive points in 4 games. Thomas Jones is getting less than 20 touches a game (97 including passes) and Leon Washington only 7 (36 total). That last stat is unbeleivable, Washington is the most explosive player on the team, 7 touches/game for him is just plain stupid.

4. And of course the defense. Sigh...this is just getting annoying, week after week the same deal. I really don't see anyone in the front 7 who is a good fit, no, even an above average fit in our 3-4, except maybe brian thomas, and i think the coaching staff may have him overrated a little bit. I think its pretty clear that almost every defensive player would benefit from switching back to the 4-3...

I think Mangini is a good coach, i'm really pleased with how he conducts the offseason and training camps, and i like his discipline. However the playcalling is driving this team into the ground. There are too many good players on offense and defense for this team to be bottom 25 in both categories.
Bottom line, this team needs a drastic change to ignite themselves, but with Mangini at the helm...i dont see any changes whatsoever for awhile...If he doesn't make a change this season, or doesn't promise to make a change for next season, I think Mangini should be fired.

yea, the offense has been dissappointing, but the lack of a solid running game obviously has a lot to do with it...

[censored] this defense, i can't remember the last time they had a dominant game and all they do is piss me off...

as for FA, this team will have to make decisions down the line with what to do with several of its core players, mostly on the defensive side...this could very well lead them towards rebuilding in the draft to save money...

sigh, not sure about mangini, we had a soft schedule last year, did well, improved in the offseason with revis and thomas and clearly we've been bad this year, so who knows how effective he's been...

either way, the playcalling has not been good, whether that's more on the coordinators, who knows, but ultimately, it's his responsibility to manage the game...

Well we're playing a lot better this half it seems. Hopefully we can put some points on the board with this good field position.

The sad thing is I knew they were throwing the fade. That's the only play they do in that situation.

2nd and 2 at the eagles 4, that was the absolute worst 3 playcalls on every down, like honestly wtf is the coaching staff trying to make this team lose?

The running game was the only thing working with the offense today...gotta let TJ get that first down or punch it in.

This team frustrates the hell out of me. We caught so many breaks with Akers too.

ya...and veece youll be happy to know ive officially changed my stance, pennington cant be very effective without a running game, he had it today and still struggled, its time for clemens.

So I was at the game, some thoughts.

1) Big fight in the stand where I was. Jet fans > Eagle fans. Atleast we can win something.

2) Pennington really knows how to kill an emotional crowd.

3) WTF IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE. You go to a Jet game, don't tell me to sit down when its 3rd and 20 and the Jets are trying to stop the game. If you want to sit down and watch a game, stay home.

4) Kellen Clemens needs to start.

5) Let us gogogo for top5 pick

Nice...I hate to sound like a douche but I really did know that most of the people in this thread would change their stance eventually. The excuses for Pennington never stopped around here, and I think it's mainly because this guy is the easiest guy to root for. Smart QB with a lot of emotion and heart, who could hate the guy, right? True Jets fans stand by their starting QB, but more than anything, true Jets fans want to win some damn ball games and build a force that can compete with NE and IND.

You're completely right about Pennington, he needs a running game to be effective, and even though he got it today, he still played terrible. The INT he threw today was abysmal, and pretty much all the INT's he has thrown all season has been his fault alone.

Due to the fact that this team has a horrendous defense and a subpar O-Line, this team can't win with a physically limited QB like Chad. The floaters to the outside and the lob-and-pray passes need to stop. It's so easy to gameplan against him, and the Eagles did a great job of it today.

Someone in this thread said "Let's make the deep ball a weapon for the offense again" and I totally agree with that.

4) YES!

5) Chris Long FTW!!!!!! Our lines need help badly and must be addressed on day 1 of the draft

Its obvious we don't have much more to be excited for this season. (Maybe seeing how Neon Leon does returning) So, lets look at this clip from the Miami game...

I tend to agree but I definitely think its time for the coaches to start calling some propoer plays. 4th and 1 on the 3, shotgum? I don't mind passing the ball too much, but wtf is with showing pass????

Hahahahahha...oh god.
Once I saw the shotgun and Coles isolated on his man, it was so obvious what was coming. They do this play often enough but on 4th and 1 in that situation it's terrible.

Thomas Jones is running wild and we have 4 plays within the 5 and he touches the ball once?

In other news, I thought Dewayne played great today.

The more I think about this game, the more I laugh. What pathetic coaching, terrible playcalling.

The defense played excellent today, holding the Eagles to 17 points is excellent, bend but don't break! But the offense just won't get it done!

If we do draft Jake Long, do we put him at RT and keep Brick at LT, or Long at LT and Brick at RT?

Drafting another tackle in the top 5 would be a ******ed decision to make, The guy earlier was referring to Chris Long (Howie Long's Son)...Hes a 3/4 D lineman from Virginia who Scounts Inc has rated the top prospect along with Glen Dorsey.

As much as I would love Jake Long, I don't think the Jets take him. D-Brick would suck at RT, and if you ever take a tackle that early, it better be for the QB's blindside. It would cost too much money.

Brettr I agree, D-Rob played a good game today, and I would even go as far as saying that he's not part of the defensive problem.
