Commercial free sounds good, until you realize it's going to be a lot of Joe Buck talking

Right, it didn't look like he did to me. I assumed he did the first time I watched the clip because of how the ball rolled. But the second viewing it looked like he didn't even touch the ground hard at all

Gonna be mad if DJ wins by two and essentially lets the USGA off the hook.

Yeah, and if the conditions of the greens are such that you aren't safe with routine address procedures, WTF are the players supposed to do??

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt he does not want to engage in a conversation about something that happened 2 hours ago with no video in the midst of the US Open 4th round.

Which is why USGA is giving him the opportunity to discuss after the round with a clearer head.

Your argument makes no sense really. On one hand, you say the greens are so lightning fast the ball could resettle by itself. Simultaneously, you seem to argue that it would take a lot more than touching a blade of grass to make the ball move.

I'm just saying if the standard is "more likely than not that his actions somehow caused the ball to move" he's probably ****ed. That doesn't leave room for coincidences.

The USGA should have just let the ruling on the green stand.

The ridiculously obvious compelling reason is that no matter how fast the greens are, sometimes a placed ball will move on its own. Add in the fact that these greens are lighting fast and you expect it to happen more than once during a tournament.

On an unrelated note, Pittsburgh fans you can go ahead and kill yourselves tyvm.

If he can explain why gravity moved it, e.g. the ball was resting between dimples and was unstable.

I asked a physics professor in college why things that appear to be balanced move. He gave me a sufficiently long explanation about imbalance of moving molecules that convinced me that things can move without apparent force from an outside agency.

No. My post was in response to a hypothetical.

Hypothetically, one way for a player to cause a ball to move is to put force on the ground behind the ball. I simply pointed out that is impossible in this scenario but nowhere did I say that's the only way to cause a ball to move.

I agree. I don't think DJ has anything to worry about if he can articulate the reason. It is not the USGA's responsibility to tell DJ why it moved.
