Using the same database on 2 computers with Holdem manager

Hi, I know this is already in the HEM FAQ but I am getting really confused trying to follow all the instructions. I have an external hard drive and share the same HEM database on both my Pc and laptop. It is only installed on my PC at the mo but is there not some way of just moving my files on to the external HD and then importing them to my laptop?
I'd really appreciate any help or advice here as I'm pretty bad with computers in general.
