My HDD is busto. I have gazillion hands imported into HEM database. A tech support guy just called me and I have to tell him which files should be saved from my HDD.

What is the location of HEM database on my computer if I have installed it into the default beta folder?

Which files should I save in order to have the same HEM DB running on my new HDD?

Sorry for the "spam".

C:\Program Files\PostgreSQL\8.x\data

You may as well try to recover the entire SQL folder and all its directories, but I am pretty sure the 'data' folders are all thats needed to attempt to reconnect to it, after you install the same version of SQL on the new HD.

You may also have, and want to archive a 'Processed HH Folder' and a 'HandHistoryExport_xxx' folder in the HM folders.

C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\ProcessedHandHistories

and

C:\Program Files\RVG Software\Holdem Manager\HandHistoryExport_xxxx

Good Luck

Also, search the HM thread for posts between me and _dave_ when I tried to move/reconnect to my old SQL DB. I was unsuccessful, but he posted the steps I 'should have' taken to attempt it.

Indeed. I just got a 500gb Ext w/ firewire and esata - just need my esata card now. Spent all yesterday copying, formatting, reorganizing, and syncing everything. Think I got it all set now, so my graphics and poker data will be sync'd daily, and my music and photos sync'd weekly.

how exactly is your HDD failed/busto ?

if it is a hardware failure, no way is anyone recovering the many multiple gigs of postgresql data.

if it is not a hardware failure (I guess the tech just wants to format it and reinstall windows or something)? just fit another HDD and recover after the fact.

Bleh, lesson for the future - always make regular backups with pg_dunpall - they are tiny in comparison to the databse itself, and easy / fast to restore.
