So I am software engineer with some spare time on my hands, and was wondering if there was any software and / or web application people were looking for to help them play. Most things seem to be done already (huds, trackers, table ninjas etc...) but if there is anything out there a few people would be interested in I might consider developing it.

Reading this back I am basically asking you to give me the next big idea for poker software for free, but either way if there is something on these forums people are looking for I would be very interested in developing it.

Tournament openers. It sounds ******ed but it sucks ass to open 1000 super turbos, I think tableninja has this but there are many unsupported rooms.
If you really want to make some money go for tournament selection and opener.

Agree with above poster, there's a lot to do in the MacOS platform. The majority of mac users have to run windows in bootcamp or in a virtual machine. Of course you have PT3 for Mac but that for itself is not enough. I have a mac os (soon I'll be turning to linux) but I'm forced to run windows because I prefer HEM over PT3 and even if PT3 was good enough for me I still would have to go for win because table ninja only has a win version.

So, try to offer some mac os solutions, there's a big gap in the market and there are enough mac users that could turn any software application into profit in your pocket...

making software linux friendly would be awesome! pretty difficult to do but since you'll have to constantly make patches for poker rooms when they add new patches, could be a major pain

I'm interested in hiring a programmer whom has good knowledge of poker. I have a few software projects I want done...
I don't know if its possible to even do the things I want done but I would be interested in having a chat over email about what can be done and how much a programmer would charge. These are only private projects so I'm not going to make you a millionaire, unlike if you implemented some of the above ideas.

I was considering posting my project on freelancer.com. Anyone got any opinions about that site? I'm slighly worried about a programmer integrating malware into software they make.

What programming software does the Pokerstars client use? One of the projects would need to be of similar programming software to this probably.

If a programmer does make a software program for me, who has the rights to it? Can programmer distribute MY IDEA for a program then?

+1. If someone could come up with a Pokerstars SNG opener, every SNG grinder would buy it. Table ninja's is buggy and only allows 4 saved searches. I need more like 8-10.

Also, one that has been kicked around but never done to my knowledge is a clock that overlays on each table that times the blind level changes.

A program that tracks rebuy tournament results correctly. It could be for only pokerstars, and called 'stars rebuy tourney tracker' or something. The application would read the tournament summary file that one can get from pokerstars by email, stars can send it in .xlsx and .html format for example. And then it would show the tournament number, buyin, rake, rebuy and addon amounts, total buyin(rebuy and addon would be included here) and ROI.
