You need the poker client off the playing site so YES, you need software to play poker. I guess you need a OS also.

I knew this when I answered.

...and to continue. USUALLY these threads are started by people that think that using database programs, HUDs and other aids is essentially cheating. The use of these programs is not against the rules of the popular sites like FTP and Stars. Therefore it is NOT cheating.

There is a similar flame that permeates throughout 2+2 about the shortstacking ratholers that infiltrate the current cash game tables. They are NOT cheating either. They are breaking no T&C (Terms and Conditions that everyone must agree to in order to download the poker client in the first place) of any of the sites.

People that play on the internet must recognize and adapt their game to meet the current conditions just as players in a LV casino must make adjustments every time they sit down. That means you should consider that most of your opponents use software that aids in their play....against you. Adjust by using the same software aids that they use. If you don't, you really only have yourself to blame for not making the adjustments needed to beat the game you want to play.

Now if you are a NOOB asking an innocent question, my simple answer to you is:

No you don't need any additional softwares to compete playing online poker..... but you will be behind a large percentage of your opposition as far as information available to make at-the-table +EV decisions. And isn't that what poker is about?

1st off I don't think that its cheating and I have nothing against software of any kind

2nd who said anything about cheating or shortstackers

you need a drink or girlfriend or something

I just wanted to see what people think

Who said I don't use software?

Also you can get the same information by watching people play as what the software will tell you

Yes the software will give you the information faster

And yes if your playing 3 or more tables then you should use software

what if your only playing one table and taking notes?

Its noobs like you that F up these forms and ruin it for people

What a Jag off
