Do you use them both at the same time? Is keeping both databases current a problem or do you just have them both importing at the same time? I'm curious because I've already bought PT3, but I'm about to buy HEM and I'm hoping I can still get some use out of PT3 (which is prettier, for what that's worth).

FWIW - HM is adding a lot of graphical styling updates (as well as adding massive technical improvements such as the DB Cache) to the manager in 1.05.10.

i have a question, how does HEM compare to PT3 and PT2 when it comes to resource useage? I ask because on my laptop sites like ipoker and microgaming run like crud and using the PT products causes timeouts and lockups as CPU hits 100%. its not a terrible laptop but it is not that new either.

i bought PT3 hoping the performance would make things better but they really havent and the hud crashes are a major turnoff (yes, ive reported them to support)

if any sng/mtt players can answer this: does HEM offer any (or are in the plans of offering) anything special features tailored to sng/tourneys that PT3 won't have?

for use for sng/mtt why would HEM be better than pt3?

This is my major concern as well. I've been trying PT3 for a few weeks now, and it causes lags and timeouts on my computer (at least it does when I start multitabling). On the old PT2 (and PAHUD), I could have just about any number of tables open, but with PT3, if I have more than four tables open, I start to notice lag. If I have more than 6 tables open, I risk timing out.

I am frustrated because I thought PT3 was supposed to have better resouce usage, not worse! I understand PT3 has more stats (and custimizeable ones) in its database (which I appreciate), but my number one priority is HUD resource usage.

I'm strongly considering the switch to HEM. Can anyone state whether HEM is much better as far as HUD resource usage goes? I hear a future release of HEM is supposed to be better, but what about its current release?

New HUD is great for me, using multiple panels, and playing 4 tables. Many people 16-24 table at FTP/Stars with HMHUD.

The new, performance improved HUD release is in the HM beta testers hands currently, fwiw.

***************************************
I posted this in the pt3 thread by mistake last night.

This was a shot of my Task Manager while 4 tabling recently, using HM with 4 individual HUD Panels per player.

HoldemManager.exe
HMImport.exe
HMHUD.exe

~90 - 100 MB

and various PostgreSQL.exe

AHK used the most CPU (9%) for me, but I run 6-7 scripts.

Yes. Simply export your hands from PT2 or PT3, then manually Import From Folder in HM.

PT2 = Utilities > Export Hands to File

PT3 it's in their Options > Database Management > Export Hands, IIRC. I havent used PT3 in a month or 2, so that may not be exact.

How fast is your computer and how many tables do you play?

I was having some performance issues with HM when playing 9+ tables but the new (beta) HUD has almost completely solved my problems. My computer is just over 3 years old so I can't expect perfection.

You should just wait for HM 1.05.10 or get the beta if you are going to switch because the HUD is much more efficient.

EDIT: rvg just posted that 1.05.10 is going to have a 1 week unlimited hands trial so you should definitely check that out and decide for yourself.

HM>>>>PT3

as for speeds. 18tables of party and 20tables of other sites + mine + hud, autoimport = ~20% cpu(on my 8x2.8ghz). 200hands/s importing.

Is it easy enough to export hands from HEM to PT3? I'm using both now. I've been using PT3 since April and it was working pretty well for me. I started getting some crashes lately so I tried out HEM and purchased it two days ago. I don't think it's significantly better than PT3. They're both buggy (PT3 is buggier) and both do some really cool things that the other one doesn't do yet. With neither program do I get the feeling that I'm using a finished product. Ultimately I decided to go with HEM for now simply because it supports all the sites I play on, but I have to say that the interface for configuring popup stats is way less user friendly than PT3, although certainly very powerful. It does have a lot of feature which are really nifty, though, and is further along in its development than PT3.

Despite the bugs, I would recommend either program. I know, not helpful.

PT3 want monthly money for table tracker?!? Wat. If the HEM one is free and not rubbish, that's got to make it a no-brainer if you could only have one...?

Does HEM offer that feature?

Certainly there are cheaper 3rd-party solutions like Table Shark.

I think table shark and spade eye. Sixth sense maybe updating to work with HM but SS wasn't working with anything last time I checked.

Here are the specs on my computer:

Pentium (R) 4 CPU 3.4 GHz
3.39 GHz, 2.00 GB of RAM

I do plan on getting a new multi-core computer within the next 18 months, but even once I do, I'd still prefer the less resource intensive HUD.

I play anywhere from 2-8 tables (depending on the games available and how tired I am). However, when I played before (on PT2), I often had other tables open as well--ones I was just on the waiting list. With PT2 + PAHUD, I could be playing 6 tables, have another 12 open as well, and have no real lag issues. With PT3, I start having lag issues with anything over 4 tables. This is especially true when I first open a table and PT3's HUD is picking up the initial stats for the table.

Anyhow, I'd like to try out HM 1.05.10. When will it come out, and how do I get the unlimited hands trial version?

Thanks for your help.

Do you have a decent video card? It might help with HUD performance.

Just keep tabs on the big HM thread. He will post in there once 1.05.10 is released.

I'm pretty sure there is no unlimited hand trial version so buy it.
That's the only disadvantage HM has angainst PT3 ...

HM is having another week long, unlimited hand trial next week. The only reason PT3 has a 60 day trial, is because they had soo many problems still at initial release.

I think 1.05.10 will run just fine on your machine. Mine is much slower and works great with the 1.05.10 beta.

It should be out pretty soon but Roy hasn't given a date or anything. You should subscribe to the main HM thread and if you see the title change to version 1.05.10 you'll know that it is out. The unlimited hands is only for 1 week from the release, I believe, so you want to get it ASAP.

Yes. I haven't even loaded up PT2 in the last few months of play.

I un-installed PT2 months ago. I recently installed PTO/PTS again, after reformatting my PC, and didn't bother to even download PT2. It's time has come and gone, IMO.

Yes it is. I only use HM now. I got it about 2 weeks ago and it is awesome.

I'm getting a new computer tomorrow and not even gonna bother using my extra code for PT2 . You are def. right about that.
