all the help i can give would be to search the pokertracker.com forums... i think that's where i found somewhere to walk me through getting postgresql installed

I have installed PostgreSQL and HM 10-15 times for different friends and customers. I did it the first time following PT2 instructions last year. And have since done it for myself, and others (via remote support) following the HM instructions. I have never had a problem getting it to work, IIRC.

If you are on vista, turn off UAC completely and reboot.
If you go thru the HM setup/DB Control panel, it gives a link to download SQL 8.3 for HM. Make sure you turn off UAC, and your firewall, and reboot before trying to install.
