Bar - I get your point, and I've read a lot / searched a lot of this thread. I didn't ask questions when I was playing with my own theme, I didn't ask questions when I downloaded, installed, and edited several others. I have read a lot of this thread, and while my 2nd question may be fully answered. The first one is answered only to this extent (and mostly by you about 10 times):

"You should run the update once a week or so to make sure you have the latest software."

So I still don't have an answer to finding out if the client is going to tell me there is an update even when I'm not running pokerstarsupdate.exe.

If you don't mind me butting in with an opinion. First, "NO" the client won't announce an update if you are using the "pokerstars.exe" logon. And if you use the update exe file, then it will always tell you "there's new software" if you've made changes, so you don't really know if there's a change.

This is the "Official PokerStars Software Improvement" thread. While there is a lot of repetitious posting, you will know IMMEDIATELY when there is an update. People start immediately complaining or applauding the changes. I don't update until I see that, or when "Alex" from PS's jumps in and announces an upcoming update. I also give it a day or two. They have been known to have problems when a new update is first done. Once it's been two days, you'll know if it's safe to go into the water.

as far as will you need to replace your mods? you give no indication as to what mods you're using, whether they are proper XTheme mods (which will not need to be replaced) or card/chip/font mods or mods to stars original tables (which will need to be replaced)

I am using the Everlong "Pitch Black" theme. Am I correct that it is based on the "simple" theme and not the "black" theme?

Second question... This sounds dumb but... Is the "hyper simple" theme in Stars based on the "simple" theme, or a different one?

everlongs theme is based on the stars hyper simple theme which should pretty much answer your second question as well

Pitch Black is a No Images theme and is based on the 'Simple' base, which is the only No Images theme base currently. Hyper-Simple uses the 'Ordinary' theme base. It is relatively easy to figure this out. If you read the xthemes.ini file:

Then go look at the thumbnail images in the \themes\simple folder.

Has anybody made the bigger/revised note icons for Slick theme? Maybe a square that only goes around the square avatar, think that would work well if its possible.

Also, can somebody post some free cardbacks? Maybe bright, but also have some sort of 3D edge effect to them? Thank you very much. Just switched to stars.

by using custom "XTheme" mods as discussed thoughout this thread

you cannot remove it from the stars themes/tables

I followed the instructions above in order to have my coloured notes appear as a ring around each opponent.

One other thing I would like to do is change is the colour of the buttons (check/call/bet) from the default pale blue to a bright red (as I tile and multi-table and it should make it easier to see when my action is required at a table.)

I'm sure it's very simple to do, but could someone please tell me how?

better method

open the themes folder, open the ordinary folder
copy fg.bmp, fg.a.bmp, fg.b.bmp, and bg.jpg and paste them into the folder "XThemes\2+2Weegs.pokerstars.com\SimpleHypersi mple "

then your mod will always be there on your theme menu and no need to bypass updates

That seems to remove the note "rings"
