Meh, this is probably suppose to go in the Computer technical support forum, but it is a vid about poker 
Anyways,
I made a vid with camtasia and outputted it to an .avi file, but problem is even after I zipped it, it is still 500meg in size, which I feel would be an inconvenience for people to download. Is there another program I should be using to convert the file to a reasonable size. I know that it will be somewhat large since I recorded it in 1676x832 and it is 47 minutes long, but 500meg seems redic. Any suggestions?

Search for other Camtasia threads/posts regarding this. I believe you want to reproduce the .camrec file as a WMV. There are likely other things you can do to reduce the file size, but I have no practical experience. I just know this isn't the first thread about this topic.
