Installing postgres sql on vista

I go through all the installation steps and just before it finishes installing i get error messages.

failed to create temporary directory

rolling back action

installation ended prematurely because of an error

I have removed user account control. Anyone know what this might be or can point me in the right direction?

My first guess would be that you haven't extracted the contents the postgresql.zip, and are trying to run the installer from within the ZIP file. Many people just double click the zip file which simply lets you see the contents within. To use the contents you must first extract them from the archive. Extract the ZIP (I use 7Zip) file to a new folder, and then go into that new folder to run the SQL installer.

Its not that. Thanks for reply tho. The error comes up as the installation says "initializing database cluster".

You said that UAC is turned completely off? Have you rebooted since turning it off? Are you positive it stayed turned off? Have you tried disabling your firewall and antivirus as well? Where did you download SQL from? Try the new Where did you download SQL from? Try the new one-click SQL installer and see if it works better.

What tracker are you doing this for? You may have better luck asking on their forums/thread, as this is likely a somewhat common issue.

I tried disabling the firewall and using the one click installation program.

It says

Problem running post-install step. Installtion may not complete correctly
The database cluster initialisation failed.

Its for holdem manager. I've tried the forums there as well

I would suggest you go back to the thread there, and reply back to fabio what has happened since your last post. I am sure they will get you up and running, one way or another. It just might take a bit more back and forth. I doubt I can really be of anymore assistance, as I never have SQL problems so I am not very good at troubleshooting them.
