i duno if this is where this is suppose to go ......mods plz help if not sorry & ty!!

My dell comp (4 years old) keeps shutting off and turning on by its self. Has anyone ever had this happen or know how to fix it??? Maybe a power supply problem??? Dont really know the first thing about comps but it really frustrating!! Thanks peeps!!

It could be the power supply, or among other things, it could be over heating. Have you opened it and clean any dust accumulation? (carefully vacuum and blow any dust out)

Edit: I just read a related Google thread and a couple times simliar problems were caused by a faulty keyboard, which I never would have guessed.

Ok so i open my computer and took the ps out cleaned every piece of it. Examined all the wires, every thing looked fine. When i was inspecting the rest of the computer i noticed another black fan that was hook to a piece of the mother board. Be for i go any further, im not a computer wiz and i dont know if the big circuit board is the " mother board".
Ok so this piece under the fan was loaded with dust, i cleaned it everything worked good for the rest of the night. And the next day the same problem started.... Turning off than turning back on. Can anyone help???

I would ask a moderator to move this thread to Computer Technical Help (CTH) sub-forum and you should get more/better help for your question since it is hardware and likely not software related.
