having problems with my new mouse

i don't know if i am allowed to asked, so i apologize if its not allowed.
i just bought a new mouse (microsoft natural 6000, my system is vista) and everything works fine, except for the wheel, only when i use it for ftp. I have it setup so it will increase/decrease the bet amount by big bling, but no matter which way i turn the wheel it will only decrease the amount by the BB. If anybody could help me fix this i would appreciate it.
