What are the advantages and disadvantages of converting my PT Database to a postgresql database? I really have no experience in database language or writing sql queries or anything to do with database. My DB experience is quite limited I would say.

I haven't a clue about any of the programming either.

However, everyone has said that Access bogs down after so many hands so in order to create a useful DB with over 100K hand, you should convert. You will not know the difference in how you work with PT. Plus the conversion, even on a "large DB", doesn't take too long.

Don't remember the number of max Access hands PT Pat said...100K is a guess. But it's clearly under 500K hands and I can generate thru play and mining at least that many in a month or two so I convert all DBs. BTW, it will be faster to convert before you even start importing hands.
